I've been to Italy before, and have seen the inside of a few homes of wealthy people. Long story/short: Unless you live up in the Scandanavian, Russian, and Former USSR regions/countries, you're not going to see much furniture made of real wood in the homes of most Central and Southern European countries. But I agree with you (if, in fact, this is what you mean), that if you have THAT much money to spend on a home like that, why not spend more money on non-IKEA furniture? I guess it's just "the times." In The USA, even among automobiles, many "luxury" cars such as Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, etc, are being made and paited to where the bodies (shells) of the cars look like the same cheaper car materials as Chevrolet and Ford.
