That french wrench at the bottom is extremely useful. It's basically a portable vise, considering its vintage, that's an heirloom tool for you.

Did anyone notice with the cut between 32:39 and 32:41 that he only then inserted the washers correctly? "This one seems to work great!" .... LMAO !!! Made my Day!

My Grandfather had one of these, and although both he and his toolbox are sadly lost to time, I know he would have appreciated the work and attention to detail in this restoration. A nice thought for New Year’s day: reminding me of those we love who are gone. Cheers and Happy New Year!

I have a similar toolbox! It has some rust holes, and missing a piece at the bottom for that reason, but still, i use it most of the times! But now, thanks to you, I'm thinking about giving it a proper restoration. This thing served my family for decades, maybe it's time to give it what it deserves) Thanks for the awesome content you're making!

Beautiful job as always! It might be good to have some feet on the bottom to keep it off the ground. I believe the original bottom had some embossed/dimpled feet on it. Happy New Year, and I am looking forward to seeing your projects in 2022!

Old Man Toolbox! Cheeky bugger haha 🤣. Here's an old man trick, when welding thin stuff like this, have a wet cloth on there other side to prevent over heating the panel. Prevents warping etc😉Nice job as always :D

@Restore It: You got to be kidding me: my grandfather's toolbox (still in possession, quite rusted and worn out), over here in the Netherlands is of the very same variety. Looked for a video for toolbox restauration and this was the first click.

To remove rivets I use a center punch on the rivet as close to the center of the rivet as I can and then drill them out. Works really good.

A good tip if you need to hammer anything near fresh paint; wrap the hammer/punch in masking tape to reduce the chance of scuffing & scratching.

As usual with my very limited ability in these sort of things i got to the six/seven minute mark in this one and if it was me doing it i would have picked all the bits up that i’d managed to dismantle and put them into the corner of my garage to be completed at a later date a work in progress. Great job dude. 🙂

A suggestion when mixing paint colours..... use a welding rod to dip into the paints and write down the dips as you go, easily duplicate down the road too. Less chance of wasting paint if you go too far off the mark.
