RESTORING 15 YEAR OLD 4RUNNER UNDER QUARANTINE

Stuck at home? Well in our isolation, we were inspired by the idea of restoring a vehicle using store-bought products online and the process shared by Automotive Aesthetics, and what better vehicle to test on than my good friend Eric's 2005 Toyota 4Runner.
I've been wanting to get more into detailing vehicles personally, quite possibly as a business, so we decided to put a little teaser out restoring his rig. He also happens to be a filmmaker so we put our forces together and came up with this short video.
We dipped his wheels and grille about 6 or 7 years ago, and they have definitely seen better days, so we took off the old dip, cleaned them, and re-dipped them. The next week we got together and gave his rig a thorough wash, a two-stage paint correction, and a 1-year ceramic coating. This was a fun process and I'm always down for more moments like these.

I bought a black 05 Limited a few weeks ago and am slowly making it my own. I think I'll have it painted a very dark gray and I'll probably powder coat the original rims when it gets a 2-3 inch lift with suspension upgrade and 33" tires. My goal is a gray man SHTF off road bug out vehicle that looks like a grocery getter to the casual observer. But first I'm going to Fluid Film and Surface Shield the frame, undercarriage and body panels to keep it from rusting. I looked long and hard to find a $10K 4Runner with no rust, and I plan on keeping it that way..

Nice editing and good video. Just picked up an 04 4runner in similar paint condition. Wouldn't clay barring it first be a good idea before polishing? Anyways good job, hope I can make mine look fresh again

absolutely clay it! I used a synthetic clay for this vehicle before cut and polishing.

Appreciate it. We used Plasti Dip. It’s never a long-term fix, just a easy change of look. I believe it’s a little nicked up right now, I’m not the current owner. But it’s still looking a lot better than before. The original dip job was 5 years running.

I used VRP by Chemical Guys for all plastic and rubber pieces.

The brand I used for the headlights is the same as the rest of the vehicle. Americana.

They’re some cheap $150 ebay headlights, if you get them either keep them ceramic coated or a good coat of UV clear spray paint. Otherwise they end up like these before they cut them

@@BlazingFaith1945 You would wait around five days for the clear to cure before sealing it with a ceramic coating, you want all the solvents out of the paint before putting a coating on top.
