I saw a old documentary of a single person tending a small neglected cemetery. He cared for it like family & made it beautiful. When an old religious leader learned of his solitary efforts, he told the young man that this is considered a major good deed in the eyes of his people and that God takes notice of people who care for such places & things. You are very special. Well done.

You know I take my weekend walks in cemetery. It's not far from where I live. It's one of the safest places that you can take a walk. It's a really big one. I live in Nevada and you know when you think about those people the time they lived They didn't take things for granted but the people nowadays they sure do. I know you said you're not religious but God-bless you. May your spirit keep doing what you're doing.

Wow, what a fantastic video! What you're doing shows the utmost kindness and empathy for a family you don't even know, but furthermore you do the research to get to know them. I'm kind of in awe. I am definitely subscribing!

What is the gray putty you use when resetting a headstone back onto a plinth/base?
@Andy-Gibb
@Andy-Gibb Жыл бұрын
It looks like Pratleys 2 ply putty. You mix the two together and it sets like rock. Awesome stuff. I use a similar thing in manholes in my business to seal around pipes.

Norwich university did start in Norwich VT, but it was moved to Northfield VT, where it still is today. Enrollment always seems high. I heard mention of Manchester NH too, I was just there over the weekend. New England cemeteries need lots of help, atleast from what I've seen.

Just a thought - maybe epoxy the cross base next time, just to give it some resistance to lateral push.
@KelsaurusRex
@KelsaurusRex Жыл бұрын
Beautiful work, but I'm pretty sure the cross is backwards. You stand at the foot of the cross, not above it looking down. The huge family name on the front lets you know the primary orientation, and the phrase "not mine but God's" would have meant to be read from the main vantage point along with the family name.

First off I would love to say thank you for all that you’re doing for those people And for the love one’s. But I do have a question and situation is like that isn’t the ground keepers responsibility to take care of those?

Like your tripod. I had tripod made of round metal with 6 inch square metal square plates at foots, one leg of tripod was adjustable so it would make tripod level when setting up monument on a hillside

Your local library is a wonderful place to start. Many records are online now, with more being added all the time. Unfortunately, many records sites which used to be free now require a fee or subscription, but libraries have wonderful genealogical sections.

Please excuse my ignorance. This looks like a kept and functioning cemetery. Why would the cemetery not correct this? Is repairs expected to be done by descendants? Thank you for sharing your work.

This particular cemetery is stunning but also massive and they have a lifetime worth of work for someone that is currently backlogged due to funding. They are trying hard for sure but just so much to be done.

When in doubt, graves/markers in Christian cemeteries traditionally face the East. Reason being, God’s word says that when Christ comes again, He will come from the East. I pray all will be ready, … every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ Christ IS Lord…. Philippians 2:10-11
