Hello everyone!
Thanks for coming to check out another video!
Today I'm going to be restoring a gear knob using pull-up leather. This is my first time I'm doing this and I'm quite pleased with the outcome!
Definitely some learning experiences to take away from today and that's the beauty of it all, learning as I go along.
I can't wait to share my surprise with you all!
Be sure to subscribe and click the notification bell to make sure you don't miss it!
Thanks for watching.

good job for the first time!! I think the original stitching had a lot more stitches, maybe that's why it was pulling. I also watched other videos, and they were using two needles for the stitch instead of one. but I'm no expert I'm a baker. I'll be watching more of your interesting work, I want to do something like you did. car knob. I hope mine turns out that good like yours! keep up the good work!

Hey John! Thanks so much! I'm definitely going to try this out again and perhaps use two needles this time. Good luck with your one and thanks for watching!

Try and use a heatgun on the wrinkles, heat shrinks leather. Becareful not to burn the leather and use waterspray to keep it moist.

Es tan difícil hacer eso ?

once you wrap your head around the stitches it actually isn't bad at all! its the curves of the gear knob that is the tricky part for me.

What type and thickness of thread did you use? Any specific Type of needle gauge/needle type?
@Luke_cpt
@Luke_cpt 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Megan, I used 2mm waxed thread and to be honest, I'm not too sure on the specifics of the needle type.

What glue do you use for it?
@Luke_cpt

Hi! I just used normal craft glue for this one.

Any typo of glue that gives you some working time should be fine. White Glue, Craft Glue, even some Contact Cement Like Weldwood, Barge, or whatever Brand you have availible. It's really just there to keep the leather in place till you stitch it.

Those wrinkles can easily be taken away using a heat gun

you can also tap them out with a smooth flat hammer. Or press them out with a Bone Folder (They aren't always made of Bone, but that's what they are called.)
