A friend of mine bought this one (at a huge discount) in black, a demo tape was included to show the sound quality. This machine is not only built to the highest standards, it also operates smooth and has a wonderful sound quality. I will share your video to that friend just in case...

A beautiful piece of equipment. Soft colors. The way it was dismantled and repaired was immaculate. Wish all repair agents would take notice how to handle delicate equipment. Well done Dr DCC.

Yesterday I had the chance to replace the caps on one of these (so far I had done it only on dcc-900 philips units). To my surprise the read/write and pasc boards where in very good condition, much better than any other I had serviced in the past, although the rest of the inside was filthy (2 spider webs found, plenty of rust to the bottom copper mostly, head was totally dirty, also pinch rollers). After a good cleaning of the boards and installing new caps, nothing else was needed (=no broken traces!). Overall a much better unit than the rest of the Philips 1st generation players (and I guess technics too). I think the different sound board (or card?) with DAC7 chip (TDA1547) is much superior to the philips original (which was already very nice sounding). Page close attention to 5:40 if you are familiar with Philips 900 only (otherwise the mechanism cannot be removed or put in place).

I like watching these DCC videos, even though I never saw or had a DCC the first time around. I also like watching videos about 8-track as well.

Hello and thanks for making the vid! I’ve been doing a little research as I want to replace the belts on my DD-82. I have the part numbers (three belts) but an struggling to find a source for the belts unless I can give the dimensions. Can I ask if you happen to know a good source for belts?

5:49 "The On/Off button often breaks if you remove the front panel incorrectly" Can't you pull the plastic extender and button off the switch before you remove the front panel to prevent that from happening?
@DRDCC6 жыл бұрын
Tight, but possible. The front button is not as sturdy as the Technics/Philips. To be 100% sure you would need to remove the front cover and switch, but there is always a chance breaking it when mounting it back........ it has happened to me already. The way presented in this video seems to work best for me.

Fantastic Viewing as always. I have a DD82 I bought brand new in 1992 and it’s still playing (touch wood) effortlessly still.never been serviced but it’s still as new. I had it playing today and try to play it a couple of hours at least a week.Only DCC tapes as I no longer have any standard Cassette Tapes. How important is it do you think Sir for me to consider what you have done to this DD92 to mine after all these years with no issues?
@DRDCC6 жыл бұрын
Neil Davison It is very important, as it is simply necessary.

I have a Philips dcc 300 that appears to have the dreaded capacitor problem. How much to repair it?
@DRDCC5 жыл бұрын
craig davidson The dcc 300 does not have this problem because it has regular capacitors. It must me something else.

So I bought one of these dd 82, for 100 euro, seems caps not gone out yet as it plays both kind of tapes flawlessly, however it sometimes swthces between dcc and analogue whilst playing a tape. Microswitches? Any ideas?

Hey there Dr DCC - I have a DD 92 which has been sitting around for yonks and decided to fire up and use the beast once more. However when trying to play a pre-recorded dcc the is no sound. I then tried to a record and playback scenario, no luck there either. Oddly it will playback an analogue pre-recorded tape. Is this a caps problem or if not can you give me a heads up on what else might be the cause? Cheers, and thanks. grahame
@DRDCC5 жыл бұрын
Grahame Cranwell Hi, it is most likely the caps. You have to replace them immediately, before you risk damaging the head. Please ask this question on our forum.dccmuseum.com so others can learn as well.

My DD-82 after repair plays with sound pauses time after time :'(
@DRDCC6 жыл бұрын
That can be caused by a faulty connection on the board. The side A/B on the boards often get damaged by the acid. Remove the 68uF caps and check these connections under those to side b again. Does this happen with every tape on Side A and Side B of the tape?
