Good stuff, truck looks great with short cash. These trucks are awesome. Those corroded grounds won't cause a fuse to blow. Resistance causes current to go down, not up. That encoder motor however...that sure will!!

I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 and I replaced the encoder motor as well and where I got mine from it said to put it In neutral every time to prevent damage. Weird how his friends didn’t know this lol

I love these GMT800 trucks. BUFFALO NY. Where not only are we in the salt belt, but we have the Salt Mines “American Rock Salt” that produce it. And to make it worse, they now spray a liquid salt ‘Brine’ that’s 2x as corrosive as rock salt. Needless to say - shit rots here. I have already done rockers for people on their 2018 Silverados

Tip, amazon sells plastic slip on rocker covers to "protect" the rockers. Grab a set of those paint to match an toss on with your preferred method. I Use self tappers lol. Changes the whole look in seconds an doesnt hold moisture like great stuff does.

The No Oil Pressure thing is most likely the O-ring on the oil pick up tube. My Buddy had his done 3 times before adding a piece that holds the tube with 2 screws

34:30 had this issue with my encoder motor, but even having the transmission in neutral didn't help. So I "jumped" the transfer case motor by taking the 4 wire connector from the tccm and going the black wire to the ground and one of the red wires to the fuse box and it worked, since then always shifts awesome

Best way to have a mint 04 LLY crew cab 4x4 long box, is to use the way back machine, lol. Ordered mine new, white with all options. Put a small lift on it, and edge chip for economy. 160, 000km and cherry. I hide it in my back yard as all the youths are knocking on my door to buy it. These are awesome trucks, as they are still quite easy to work on, keep running. Our boy has two. Both Max's. Sweat equity does pay off, on any ride. Make em shine, and seal up all leaks :⁠-⁠)

Next time you take the rust off the paint, try a Mr Clean Magic eraser. We use those to clean up the old 90's car audio amplifiers, works great and doesn't hurt the paint.

If you put the fender flairs on then cut the rust out completely and give it a good layer of anything over the unpainted metal you honestly get a lot more life out of the fenders. (Great for quarter panel issues.)

Just bought an 07 classic with 153k for my first truck and it’s got similar rust just not as bad, none in the cab corners but definitely a lot on the bottom half of the rockers. You think it would be better to do bed liner to hide it or use filler/bondo? Would be really cool to see more videos on this one mine looks almost identical.

If you are looking for a cheap, short term fix, body fill. If you want it to last more than a year or 2 at most, weld in new rocker panels.

I've always shifted any 4x4 truck in neutral. I thought that's just what you had to do. Even my 2000 Dakota with the manual lever, I throw it in neutral and slam it back lol

Hey to be even cheaper when I spray paint I use a close match cheap rustoleum paint (in your case white) and only use the color match paint as a top coat. This makes the color match go much further. Just an idea.

Didnt read theough comments to see if anyone else suggested this but, instead of your clay bar for removing rust off the paint. Pick yourself up some "Cajun Brown degreaser", Amazon carries. The entire passenger side of my white Dmax was covered in rust, soray this stuff on, let sit for about 10 minutes and wipe off.

The way it ticked on start up an only sat at barley 40. I'd still change the o ring. I've had a couple just like that an after a new o ring, 50-60psi cold start an 40 crushing.
