This is a quick vid on how I restored a steam engine bell. I had to construct the bell's cradle from scratch since I didn't receive one. I also constructed a large concrete base that allowed me to display the bell outside.

What made you paint the bell? it seems to me as if that would only dampen the sound

I assume you're asking about the red paint. Its traditional for a steam locomotive bell and does not dampen the sound at all
