Calm down keyboard warriors. This is a 1947 CJ2A (civilian Jeep) produced 2 years after WWII, thus cannot possibly be war surplus.

Very good job on putting it back together in 10 minutes. To rebuild it tear it down fix it up back together and running would have taken me good two years. You did it in 10 minutes!! thanks.. my family had a 43 MB from 1963 to 1985.. my dad forbade me from doing any mods.. it got sold to a local guy.. who restored it to army look.. i still see it when they drag it out on parade days.. i know it was ours as the shovel groove was filled with a flat panel.. the only mod i got away with . be sure to mod a garden hose with a 360 degree sprinkler nozzle to wash your frame rails out after dunking it.. or operating it in the snow/sleet..

I remember ads in magazines back in the 80's selling crate military jeeps and motorcycles. There extremely cheap. I am just curious to understand when he said he did this after the war... That it was impossible. I'm not challenging, I just don't understand. I KNOW people bought these kits in the early 80's the ads were in Popular Mechanics.
@TurnNBurn4 жыл бұрын
It was always a scam. By the 1980s those Jeeps were at least 45 years old. You'd send in $50 to the advertisement, then they'd send you the address of a government auction site where you could bid on old surplus. Nobody got one in a crate.
@DiaryofaGrimReaper4 жыл бұрын

The "Jeep in a crate for $50" was a big scam in magazines back in the day. You'd send $50 in the mail, and they'd give you an address of the surplus auctions. Post war Jeeps are not surplus, as they were not made during the war.
