Just look at the craftsmanship that went into the manufacturey of that screwdriver! An era when tools were meant to last a lifetime. I have the exact same one left to me by my grandfather. Today? Chinesium crap. Now we live in an era where tools are made to be replaced in the name of continued profits.

Very true. One of the reasons I love rescuing these old tools. No matter the reason, be it escaping high taxes and regulations or just the greed for profit - when production moves overseas the overwhelming majority of the time the product quality suffers. I work a couple of mornings a week at a smaller national supply store and no foolin, at least 80% of the store's inventory is from china/taiwan/vietnam. Thanks for stopping by!

Excellent job Sir. I have a couple of these in the shop that are on my list to clean up. One about the same size as yours in the video and the second is about 4 inches long. Hopefully when I get around to them, they will look as nice as yours when finished. Love the cabinet handles also!

Thank you! They really are fun to restore and it seems that a new and different one always comes along. The cabinet handles are old railroad spikes I collected as a kid from down by the tracks near where the steel mill in Homestead used to be. Thanks for dropping by the channel!

Nice work on the screwdriver ,I like the round block you used when getting the pins out where can I get one and how much do they cost thankyou
@MattsGarage1791Сағат бұрын
Thanks - it's fun to uncover a tool like this from under all the rust! The round block is a gunsmith's bench block. You can usually find them at any gun shop or on amazon for $10-$15.
