Great shot at the end! Well done on the restoration. Now you can get started on removing the elecrolyte from your bath tub before wife/mother finds out where you pored that sludge!

Lol I am a Dad who has actually owned this exact model since 1962. Not in quite as bad condition, but unfortunately loaned to a son a long time back who attempted some repairs and has lost the Trigger Sear mechanism. I have brought it out of storage and if I can find a replacement trigger sear, will restore mine similarly. Nice job. They are a great air rifle.

Get a complete old rifle in a Holts sale, they go cheap. The only snag being that Holts want an extra 25% on top of the sale price and the cost of collecting the rifle.

I've just done the same thing, sanded down and revarnished the stock, cleaned out and planning on reblueing the barrel and parts next, looks a lot cleaner.

Its a satisfying job.. especially seeing the craftsmanship that went into building the older guns

Nothing wrong with that I’ve just done a 3 / 4 / and two 5s. Loverly to work and with a lot of polishing they can be smooth and accurate too I know it’s hard to believe but my meteor mk3 late is as accurate at 15 yards as my TX200HC. And that’s a bold claim but true 10 pellets one hole size of a pellet. At 15 yards And easier to shoot than a lot of my new guns.

Thats amazing!

MR Whitmore hey great video Really enjoyed it. And I’ll shock you even more. After polishing the trigger sears it is absolutely lovely. And the trigger has a reputation for being rubbish. Old guns are a lot of fun. When you take vintage guns to the range and you can match your mates £1000 gun. That has to hurt. Just finished a webley & scott hawk mk2 it was like working on a rolls Royce. And now shoots similar to the mk3 meteor. Keep up with the vids and thanks for the reply.

I have just bought a nice one. It's as smooth as silk but it's the one with the basic metal rearsight. It's grooved for a scope but fancy a red dot. My question is would it hold on those grooves regards ken

hello. Yesterday I found a BSA Meteor with the serial number ND 8116. The only info´s I could find at a forum was it should be a MK 2 Super Meteor 1967-1969. Can that be right? Later I found out it is a MK3 . I did a chrony test with the MK 3 and the results are disappointing .With a 5.7 gr. lead free pellet I got 3.6 fpe . How much power does had these guns new at the late 60´s ?? And would you recommend a mainspring wich produce close to 12 fpe??? Or is it to much for this little air rifle !!!! Thanks for an answer ! Greetings from Norway

The original meteors had about 9 pounds pressure. Could be lots of factors causing low pressure. Rusty barrel thats taking all the energy out of the shot, old spring, o-rings perished. Or a warn out spring. They are quite easy to change the springs... we used to make them more powerful by putting 2p coins behind the spring. Cheers

@@MRWhitmore So it is ok when I put in a new spring (10-12 fpe) ? Thanks so much !

Nice job but why do people let their guns get like this?
@sangheliosgaming14034 жыл бұрын
Well I’m guessing that the KZbinr lives in the UK where people aren’t so obsessive over guns compared to other places so either they stopped using it or they just didn’t care much about it anymore either way it’s just neglect of an unused air rifle by the looks of it, but all in all the video was great
@annabeltheunicorn93744 жыл бұрын
Nah not obsessive but would say the same about any tool being allowed to go rusty for the sake of a oily rag

Would have been much easier with a camera tripod! Two hands and no camera shake.
