Restoring Dell XPS 630i

Found an old Dell XPS 630i on the side of the road and it was in great shape with the original plastic on 2 of the sides. It just needed a hard drive and a good cleaning. Unfortunately, half of this video is missing due to a hard drive problem but I still had Footage from the main camera.

Are you mental blowing out a computer like that indoors! I blow out computers all the time with a real compressor and I find its best to remove components like the gpu and psu to rebuild, use a cheap laminating brush on all the accessible areas before vacuuming the bulk then using compressed air.

Normally I use an air compressor in my garage but unfortunately the space was being used for something else and I had a deadline of only 2 days so a can of compressed air and my basement should suffice, But thanks for the input.

I don't know how the heck you managed to install Firefox on it because i just tried to install the 64 bit version like 1 week ago and Firefox wouldn't install on Vista anymore

Well I had a fight with Internet explorer but somehow I managed to get it on 32-bit Vista It wasn't easy

I agree. I go with a little shop vac (filtered) I dont want to breathe in 10 years worth of someones skin cells LOL

Why have too cards if your not going to use SLi ?

I would like to use the SLI that was the original goal. But after some testing after the video looks like the second card is bad.

Try upgrading to Windows 10

This will run win 10 no problem.

Yeah it originally ran Windows 10 but I had to run Vista 32-bit for compatibility for old games

I have 3 of these machines which I use daily. Two black and one red. Don’t bother installing windows 10 as it will crash when you use it. I installed windows 10 on 2 of the machines with the same outcome. Everything works fine at first but then you will get the blue screen. There is an issue with the motherboard for windows10. I spent countless hours looking for a solution. The best windows OS for that machine is windows 7.
