@@BigAdam2050 It wasn't the trade embargo that did that, it was Castro's hatred of all that Old Cuba represented, it was his confiscation of private property and his imposition of a Marxist economy and totalitarian regime. If I confiscate your restaurant or bar and expel you from the country, then I either close your restaurant or bar or turn it into a Committee-for-the-Defense-of-the Revolution, that neon light that advertised your business is going to deteriorate with time, rust and fall apart.

The USA has an embargo in place that banned all trade with CUBA about 50 years ago. That's why the country looks like it is still stuck back in the 1950's
