Great job today! I really enjoyed watching you doing your thing. I went to a pawnshop this morning. All knives looked good, and were pricey. I just sort of said I was looking for old knives to refurbish. He said,”Oh I’ve got a boxful of those.” I bought three Cases (two were carbon) an Old Timer carbon, a Solingen Buck, a Camillus fixed blade, all for $25. Six knives in all. And I owe it all to you! Thanks!

Nice job restoring the knives, a tip on the Mora, Mora recommends to sharpen them flat to the grind so you get a zero micro bevel edge, just lay the bevel flat to a stone and sharpen

Love those old Camillus knives ! Saving old knives… bonding with them! I get it Kevin ! I like saving old furniture… outdoor furniture, indoor… repurposing old tool chests . When you think about folks using these objects 100 years ago… kind of gets to you. My mother gave me over 100 old canning jars,, she said they came from her mother, and possibly originally some of them came from her grandmother.. they have bubbles in the glass … some are tinted not blue but like a light purple and light amber… you could tell they started out is clear. Anyways, I’ve held onto them for like 40 years .. and now I’m distributing them to my kids… ( Got to reduce my ‘stuff’) The two lockback i use mostly ( work knives) one of them my dad gave me and one of them was his … got it when he passed. There is huge emotional feeling using them and when my kids n grands use em… ( kids and I made over 100 walking staffs ) . Sometimes I’ll pick up old furniture, headboards stuff I see waiting for the garbage man.. I remember one time with my son-in-law and I stopped and he said what are you doing? I picked up a bunch of nice oak .. probably somebody was cleaning out a deceased woodworker garage / shop Must’ve been a couple hundred dollars plus worth … I’m not a big woodworker I kind of Mickey Mouse wood projects .. ( there’s what you can do with wood glue and screws lol) . There was an outdoor pergola that I bought at the flea market. It didn’t have a canvas top. ,,, but that lattice looking corners, turned into three different projects that my kids were proud to have done. I do have one more piece.( there were 8 of them 3 ft x 7 ft … I think I paid $20 for that wood. OK, that was my 2nd cup of coffee . Can’t wait for your next video.

@@theknifedoctor Thank you Kevin. The way you been doing it is great, I, and most others agree, we love the back ground sounds, the weather on the radio, I absolutely love hearing that tin roof make it's sweet sound, and that rooster call. I have even heard sirens in the back ground and I even like hearing that too. It may sound strange, but all that is what makes your videos complete. I'm also used to your little work station in your current shop. When you move into that new shop, the sounds and your current little shop I'm going to miss. I don't mean to rant but the way you do your videos and your set up is already perfect but I know you're growing and things change. No matter what I'll always be watching.

FYI .. there’s nothing wrong with a mineral oil bath. It helps remove rust and is completely non toxic. Just sayin, “there’s more than one way to skin a cat”. For the PETA readers, it’s just an old saying, no one is skinning cats.

Thanks for the question! It’s because people sharpen the knife a lot and the blade gets thinner which moves the tip further up the spine or back of the blade. Making the tip stick over the handles. In a shorter answer OVER SHARPENING.
