didn't know that the pal sets have no rf out on them
@razeezar5 ай бұрын
It must be a later series (1chip?). Every pal SNES that I've encountered firsthand has the RF out. They commonly came with an RF adaptor inside of the package when new. Back in the day, I never used the AV until I first had an N64, and discovered that the N64 cable also fit into the mysterious other socket in the back of my SNES. 🙂

I have no idea why that fuse seems to blow so often. I've seen people blow it while repairing other parts of it. It seems to be overly sensitive to voltage changes (IIRC it blows when you don't power off before unplugging?) but it also isn't doing its job properly then, clearly... Awesome restoration.

I know this is a random question but what type of profession is this? Is it electronical engineering?
@acumenium81572 жыл бұрын
@@lyrichasmoxie2586 I would assume so, yeah. A lot of repairs you see on KZbin for electronics like this too can be done or even diagnosed by laymen like you and I though with a multimeter though, then the actual replacing of components can get tricky but would require a good (micro)soldering kit.

How the hades do these consoles get this dirty? Yellowing I understand....but some of them look like people are setting up their system out in the woods
@GTTeancum2 жыл бұрын
You buy a yellowed console then take it into the backyard and push it around in the dirt before filming. It's the only thing that makes sense.
@davidb.66812 жыл бұрын
@@GTTeancum Thank you for bringing this up. It's getting old seeing these fake restore videos popping up. Here's something that always proves a fake. If it looks as if it was clearly in mud on the outside, then that mud WILL be on the inside. If they open the console and that PCB is covered on top, then suddenly perfectly untouched on the bottom, that's more than likely a fake made up for the video. If water gets on the inside it will hit every spot on those boards. Not just the tops. Even boards that have the metal covering them will have evidence of water and dried up mud getting inbetween. Water doesn't magically leave the bottoms clean like this one was.
@davidb.66812 жыл бұрын
The ones that are heavily yellowed are caused by certain plastics that yellow over time and it's not always UV light that causes that. Certain chemicals in the plastic can also cause it. Ones that are heavily yellowed and feel sticky/tacky, that's usually from a home where there were heavy smokers. It's nicotine build up. If you see ones covered in dried up mud and the person opens it and the bottom of the PCB is clean, it's likely a fake that they purposely weathered so they can "restore" it. Genuine barn, garage or basement finds will always have a few things: More rust than dirt and signs of mold and mildew. Unless they were actually in a flooded basement or barn, question every single console that's being "restored" that looks like it has dried mud on the outside of it. I cant take this channel seriously when every single console has had evidence of being thrown in mud. Would you buy a broken console that appeared to be covered in mud at one point? Maybe once or twice to see if it's actually been in a flood, but when every console he gets looks exactly the same....come on now.
