Bonjour à tous, its the episode everyone has been waiting for, the removal of the original shutters and the cleaning of the stonework. With so much work going on elsewhere the front of the chateau has been waiting for its time to come and be restored, and here it is. The old shutters are off and the chateau stonework gets its much needed wash. Tracy & Terry try a couple of different ways in which to clean it with amazing results at the end.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

With the lichen, moss, and stains mostly removed, there will be less continual damage to the stone and mortar over time. With your climate, the seasonal changes, weather (rain, frost, snow) it all comes back slowly if left unattended, so you're doing a bit of preservation work over the long run. With new windows, and those ghastly shutters eventually repaired/repainted/protected, your physical asset of the chateau's interior will gain another level of protection from the intrusive elements. My point? You are to be complimented on preserving, protecting, and best of all restoring such a handsome structure. Well done. And as I am sure I am not alone, those metal door canopies (currently sans glass) will now cry out louder for own restoration and afterwards they will be a really fine feature of that side of the building. I am looking forward to when they show up on your current project list. So much to do, so much more after that - but you've accomplished a great deal inside and out and that is evident. Great vlog! Continued success.

I let the solution soak for 10 minutes. Then I power wash my driveway. Once it’s dry I apply the diluted solution to prevent the algae growth. This application stays on and does not get washed off. There are KZbin videos for the correct ratio. I only have to power wash my driveway every 2-3 years. Saves a lot of time and water. Power washing is so satisfying. Instant gratification. You could set up a camera and just film yourself washing the chateau. No further comment. I’d find that very exciting. Watching the old lady shine and display her true beauty under all that gunk is exciting.

I once saw a couple renovating a chateau who took their shutters off and repaired them to then not know where they belonged because they had not identified where they were from in any way. Oh to be young again. I'd hop over there and start scrubbing. Just the pleasure of working with you would be so satisfying and fun! What a marvelous crew you are. Thank you for all the smiles you give me. Happy Birthday Johnathan; you are making memories more valuable than all the money in the world!
