I cant believe the glue was still holding somewhat. The quality of nike/jordan brand has gone down so much over the years. It's sad, really. But damn brother, this was a ton of work. You killed it as usual. Awesome restoration!

Agreed. As much as I loved Vans I refuse to buy anymore. Way over priced and terribly inferior quality.

They used imported Materials from Europe, especially Italy kenda farben dyes also where penetrating dyes and not acrylic even though angelus is much higher priced than European penetrating dyes.

Yep, built their name on high quality, then starting cashing in on brand equity by reducing quality but keeping premium (or ultra premium) pricing.

Back in the day people had to use actual skill making things. Now days, with technology, people have gotten too used to short cuts & no talent for how things should be made. Everyone is out for a quick and easy buck. With that being said, I love your video! You do a fantastic job. I can tell you really enjoy what you're doing. Keep it up!

But man, this ended up being a masterclass in learning from your mistakes and fixing them as you went, and getting better through doing the work. They look phenomenal at the end bro, great job!

Quick airbrushing tip to stop bleeding under the vinyl. Before spraying your color, do a light coat of white or whatever color is the backgroud color. That way, in this case, the whit is the color that bleeds under and seals whatever gals may be there. Then shoot your color. Great job!

I’m a tailor who is getting into shoemaking. See if you can get a tailors ham as a form to fuse the sock liner to the foam. If you can fuse it in the shape you will use it, the wrinkles will be less. Inside layers are always smaller than outside layers.

John, just wanted to know if this was the hardest or one of the hardest projects that you've done? I understand that you have to have patience when doing this type of work but when you started making mistakes, you didn't get frustrated. Really impressed with your talent. What's even more impressive is that you're still young and have a lot more challenging projects to accomplish. Hope you keep the videos coming.
@PinnacIeSaint
@PinnacIeSaint 4 ай бұрын
Ya'know if you've got this much patience you should have made a full blown Krikut templet pattern just to see if you could make a full blown forgery. If it weren't for videos like these I'd never believed people actually pay $20,000 for a pair of shoes. I'm the $20 shoe guy. Back in high school one of my classes was leather works/crafts so this brought back a lot of memories. Seeing the number tag for the inside I was wondering why a stensil couldn't have been made with the krikut the same as the wing logo. Anyway that was just a thought.

couple of small suggestions (nice work btw), make more economical use of your materials by placing them close together. then use a knife (not scissors) to make the cuts. This works for leather and when you glue the leather to the lining.

Enjoyable video! How long do you usually take with these restoration projects in real time? Is there a big time difference between treating high-quality shoes and lower quality ones? And if possible can you maybe upload a full-length video with no speed-up next time? Looking forward to your future projects
@johnandrew00
@johnandrew00 4 ай бұрын
A full length video would be 5+ hours. That’s only recording one shoe. It usually takes me less than a week to finish a pair. Yeah there’s a slight difference depends on the materials used. I need to be more careful with suede shoes

Hey Mr. Manalo, I have a pair of Air Jordan 11 space jam from 2009 and the air unit is shot. I thought about cutting a slit down the middle of the sock liner of the inside of the shoe to replace it as I’d prefer not to take the upper apart from the soles. What do you suggest?
