Thank you for the continued mentions and usage of the SE30 Compact board. Will be sending you an updated version soon. Thanks.

Wow, very lucky with that SE/30 that the battery was still intact. Well done! :) Looking forward to part 2.
@asm1Ай бұрын
Yup. The one on My brother's SE30 was also original. Not leaking but bulging slightly. Dated May 89. Long gone replaced with off board solution.

First Mac: nice upgrade! Second Mac: I'm used to seeing that level of rust when the battery did decide to go... nice find and rescue!

Big thing I learned here is that you can pop a regular alkaline AA into the battery slot on a 512k.

My little brother gifted me a complete set up like that in working condition he saved from the trash at his college. Professor was retiring and had it all in his office for 30+ years. Case, computer, keyboard, and mouse in near mint condition. Couldnt believe it. Bought a BlueSCSI so the system now boots and has Wifi.

"being very careful not to melt anything in the process" - I see a lot of melted bits on those caps. :-P

@@AnonymousFreakYT Well they end up in the trash, so that’s fine.

Nice to meet you. I am commenting from Japan. The repair video is very informative. Thank you very much. Is the memory error the cause of the Thad MAC error code 048102 in the question?

Loved the video, Bruce. I watched it in its entirety. I'm curious about the little EYOYO (Electronic Yo-Yo?) monitor. I think that might be the 8" model. I couldn't tell from your video if it was just moire or noise artifacts. If you have a good signal coming in, is it largely artifact free, or does it still display some noise? (Been thinking about buying the 10" version for use with an Apple IIc, which has a VGA adapter for video output.)

Love the videos. How do you get in contact for a logic board fix.

Got a free Plus that had been left outside and was similarly horrid shape, appearance-wise. But, despite a thoroughly rusted out frame, a bit of cleaning and replacing the RIFAs on the analogue board, and it booted like new. The brightness knob is a bit dirty, but otherwise it's doing great. These old compacts are quite hardy!

Hi Bruce - love your channel. I have a general question. The internet seems to be divided on whether you can damage PCBs (especially oscillators on the board) with an ultrasonic cleaner. You use this cleaning method all the time - so I assume you are comfortable with it. I have a couple of Mac IIFX boards that I need to clean - so just wanted to check with you first on if this is totally safe. I ordered the Vevor 30l based on your recommendation. All the best from Perth!
@BranchusCreationsАй бұрын
Oscillators definitely can be damaged by an ultrasonic cleaner, especially old ones. I know this because it happened to a Macintosh IIci board I repaired. Having said that, it's the only one it ever happened to and I have cleaned literally hundreds of boards, so the chances are slim.
