I want to take a minute of my time to thank Javier Rullan Ruano for uploading this how-to video. Once I saw it for the first time I thought to myself this is a project I can take on and so I did. Javier shared with me the info Decal supplier and once the decals arrived, I started working on it after a few days my Yamaha F100 cowling looked like new. If you’re not going to remove the seal, stick some thin rope under it to lift the edge so you don’t need your deal with a masked paint edge that’s visible and will likely be the first point of failure of your new paint finish.

The upper plastic part of the cowl should be removed by 4 bolts.. ;).. the first-hand go primer for plastic.. then colour spray and the last 2 hands of transparent lack..

I have found if you take the blade and slide it down and across the letters it comes off a lot easier and if you do it while the cover is in the sun and hot its even easier.

I agree, using heat is easier to detach the old letters from the surface.

Hola Javier mi nombre es Ignacio Perez tengo exactamente el mismo motor que pintara en el video. Le pregunto donde encontró las calcomanias porque no las encuentro, mi motor es carburado y todas las etiquetas que he visto son para fuel injection. La pintura es original Yamaha o donde puedo conseguir? Mi motor es un F100 del 2002 y necesita un poco de cariño. Pensaba contratar el trabajo pero luego de este video maravilloso lo voy a hacer yo mismo. Gracias anticipadas por su ayuda. Saludos Ignacio Perez de Puerto Rico

Does this color stick on old without any primer? In my case I have used colors (spray) from TK-Line but after one year the color fall off from engine cover...

There are basically two ways to remove it, one is using heat through a hair dryer or other professional device, also scratching with a blade as seen in the video

+Jon Bergeron I got the can from Colorite paint. If you go to the site you'll see the different drop downs and you can choose your color based on the color number from the factory. I also use the 004D. By the way, I've been in the paint business for 30 years and you should never use a polish immediately after painting and certainly never UNDER the decals. The waxy finish underneath could easily act as a release agent for the stickers. good luck

Take cowl apart completely, Don’t spray paint, use a proper gun with base and clear coat, don’t wax for atleast 90 days, use soap and water to apply decal
