Alec Jeffrey gave DNA fingerprinting, not RFLP... are they the same thing? I don't think so
@saifalhasan98956 ай бұрын
Why Southern blotting is used in RFLP? What if I didn't do the southern blotting part?
@animatedbiologywitharpan6 ай бұрын
in RFLP the GOAL is to detect specific DNA fragments after restriction enzyme digestion and gel electrophoresis. Now imagine the fragments are not transfered in the membrabe. Then hybridization is not possible. In gel hybridization cant be done.

Thank you for your video!! But I have a question. Can I say that Southern Blotting is a technique for detecting RFLP? or RFLP itself is a different technique?
@animatedbiologywitharpan2 жыл бұрын
In short Rflp use southern blot method. Watch the video : kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGPFh3mZf7Vgfrs

Rflp used in SNP analysis??
@animatedbiologywitharpan2 жыл бұрын
If SNP alters a restriction sequence can be genotyped by 'natural PCR' after restriction digestion.
@tehreemsajjad6532 жыл бұрын
So it's mean we use SNP analysis for RFLP?

Can we detect point mutations with this technique?
@animatedbiologywitharpan3 жыл бұрын
Not reliably ....point mutation might change a restriction cleavage site hence the restriction fragments in theory should be of different length in control and mutant. But now a days pcr based methods / sequencing methods are used

may I know what international issues of RFLP if there is one?
@animatedbiologywitharpan2 жыл бұрын
RFLP is a labor-intensive procedure that does not have the resolving power anywhere closer that of WGS and SNP analysis.

Sir it is possible to produce large fragments of DNA using PCR no sir From the available crime scene samples?
@animatedbiologywitharpan Жыл бұрын
Pcr can amplify upto 500bp dna reliably beyond that efficiency drops badly. So in short yes it could be done but for short dna fragments but not the entire genome.

Can linkage mapping be done using this method? If so, how do we find out if a person is homozygous or heterozygous for a particular gene?
@animatedbiologywitharpan3 жыл бұрын
Noting can be done very accurately with this method. Its obsolete because of highthroughput sequencing. Most RFLP markers are co-dominant (both alleles in heterozygous sample will be detected) and highly locus-specific.
