You’ve inspired my own luthier business! Saw this series years ago and it was the first thing that made me think “wait I can do this?”. I’m eternally grateful PS: That monstrous slab in the background makes me weak…

I definitely don't mean to be rude in pointing this out, but that bag you're using to prop up the neck isn't a luthier tool at all. It's a rabbit ear shooting rest. That being said, looks like it fits the bill perfectly! Thank you for all of these videos. They're very educational and you're very gracious for sharing.

It is a great idea using wax before CA glue , But how do you remove wax residue ? or you just wax the fingerboard later on as a finish ?

I can't wait till step # 15. I'm just curious, if you build fretless models and how many individual steps do you save by making it without the frets.

Why CA glue the frets in? With properly cut slots the tangs will hold them in just fine. If you use ANY glue use a wood glue that doesn't bond to the metal of the frets - its just for filling the small spaces and help solidity and tone of the neck. He bevels the fret slots with the triangular file to make refretting easy... then goes on the glue the frets in. This guy's just been bugging me the whole series with all the no-nos.

[CLAN]tehgyb Just an opinion here, I am a bass builder myself and I also use CA glue. The glue holds the frets solidly in place and in the couple of occasions that I have had to pull frets out, they come right out cleanly. CA glue bonds more so to the wood than to the metal and if anything it helps keep the wood from splintering when you pull the frets out. As for your comment about the “no no’s’” unless you are a seriously bad ass master luthier you are walking on thin ice my friend because Randy Wyn Fulmer is a seriously bad ass luthier and he makes awesome basses for many pro bass players. Can you beat that?
