Hi Madam Bonsai What awesome informative videos you do. Love ur beautiful trees and how much you care for them. I am very similar and absolutely love trees and plants and making bonsai out of them. I am getting to the stage where I have to many trees for the space I live but also manage to adopt another one lol It would be awesome to see a video on digging up bigger trees and transplanting into a pots and how to look after them afterwards. I dug up a yardori an El-greeko olive tree i got for free off trade me and it didn't have really manage to save to many fibrous roots just some nice big tap roots I wrapped the tap roots in spaghnum moss then put into pumice and made a hot house Teepee to cover it and kept it watered. I cut about 1/4 of the top of the tree off as well. The leaves stayed green for about 1 year but they struggled. So then I chopped most of the trunk off to the height and taper I wanted it and made a new teepee with a black plastic bag. To my delight it sprouted some nice I shoots all over the bottom of the trunk. Should I have cut the truck right back when I first dug it out? You reckon it would have done better? Many thanks Neville 🙂
@MadamBonsai202311 ай бұрын
Nev you can’t kill an olive tress they are extremely easy to keep it alive after Digup For what you just tell me it’s more then enough to keep him alive If the weather ok you don’t need to keep in hot house You are in summer too?
@nevmackenzie354211 ай бұрын
Awesome thanks Madam Bonsai😀 Yes I've heard olives are extremely hardy that's why I gave it a go. I was just worried about chopping all the leaves off when I first got it weather it would kill it or not because it was a evergreen variety Also wondering if there's any other evergreen species that are similar to olives that you can do this to? Pohutukawa maybe or ficus? I live in the north island of New Zealand so its the end of summer here. I also have a 5 foot ficus Benjamina I would like to do a truck chop on as well and it would have no leaves left afterwards. Would i need a hot house for this? Also Is Rosemary a species you can do this with aswell? A dig up of a Garden tree Manuka into a pot would be interesting also. Thank you so much for giving us ur time to do these U Tube videos. Ur a legend keep up the awesome work. Many thanks 🌞

@@nevmackenzie3542yes you can with both if too cold please keep it away for few weeks What is your temperature now?
@nevmackenzie354211 ай бұрын
Ok great thanks, we are having lows of 14 and highs of 27 this week. I think I will still keep it in a humidity tent to keep it moisture levels good and warm at night. It will be a hard decision to cut half of the tree off to a stump but I think as long as it back buds well it will make a beautiful bonsai. I will use some cut paste to. I've been experimenting with a bees wax mixed with coconut oil it works well in winter but need to adjust oil ratio so it doesn't melt in summer lol. Many thanks,Nev
