Hi, my name is Vita, I am a crafty homemaker and I love to restyle, refashion, refresh, upcycle my used clothing.
I believe in making more sustainable choices, being less wasteful for the sake of less pollution and my own financial wellbeing.
It has been my hobby for as long as I can remember and I believe this niesh or a trend or just a type of lifestyle is becoming more popular and exciting for many.
I truly have so much fun doing this. I enjoy a compliment for my DIY outfit so much more than a compliment on a regular outfit. This makes me proud.
I am sharing how I revived some old clothing and turned it into a fantastic new look.
You do not need to be a professional or extremely talented to give it a shot. I believe anyone who is willing to try can do this!
I hope you enjoy it! Please hit a like to support.
Love and Peace to all!

You do the same kind of sewing that I do, so I loved watching your process. I also appreciate the need for shortcuts because of being a mom! I know some people think it’s got to be done “right”, but good enough is good enough when your primary job is raising kids!

I really like the pieces you made. I love redesigning thrifted pieces as well, but I sew by hand. I also liked seeing you near the beach modelling. I like to see you in your surroundings where you live. I'm in UK also by the beach in Cromer Norfolk.

Thank You very much. I do my best to model my outfits with a nice background :) Ontario is beautiful. So is UK. I lived in London England for 7 years (as a school & college girl). Also my Mom lives in Ireland and scenery there is breathtaking. Thank You very much for the comment and I am happy we share the same passion :)

Hope you don’t mind some advice from a sewer of about 50 year’s experience! With regards to sewing over the pins, whilst some still do this the advice now is to not stitch over them. Several reasons why, firstly, is safer not to, if you hit the pin with the needle they can both shatter and fly out from the machine, your eyes are particularly at risk in this instance. Secondly you can cause damage to your machine, hitting the pin with the needle will knock the timing out of alignment so the stitch won’t form properly. A trip to the Tech will be needed. Thirdly, the broken bits can end up down in the mechanism causing damage, or scratch the needle plate, again making it difficult to form stitches or even will break the thread as it rubs on the rough spots. Lastly, sorting out the mess from the broken needle and pin takes time from your project! So can you? yes, Should you? No! Hope this helps and enjoy your sewing! 😊

Thank You! Notes taken. I really never tried sewing over the pins, I did see some people do tho. I am glad You convinced me not to :) Best wishes! I appreciate the advise!

A garment steamer is a huge game changer,rather than iron.

Thank You for the comment. Maybe i need to look into this, I actually had one and I hated it, but maybe it was not that good. With some crazy ruffling it is not a must for me. I know people hate wrinkles, it really does not bother me. For some types of sewing I do agree, Iron or steamer helps.

And once you have the two pieces sewn over together you stitch in the ditch to make it flatten out you don’t have to fold anything over just stitch in the ditch on the right side and it will flatten out perfectly

Thank You so much for a comment. I am very happy for liking the dress making. Regarding the music I totally get it. (and the mike fail with my breath in the background)... It was one of those learning curves.... A bit of an editing fail... but i am learning :) In my new videos I toned down the background music by a lot. Dont be sorry, because You are right! It is annoying ha ha

May I ask why you do not press these pieces out with iron before you begin cutting the fabric. Just wondering. Thank you for sharing.
@hippiecrowhub
@hippiecrowhub 10 ай бұрын
Hi, thank You so much for the comment! A very good point! I really should iron the fabric ha ha... crazy me do not have one... I think the reason why is because i moved so much in my life and i try to not own so many things. My usual clothing is very casual so i do not iron my laundry, just dry and fold neatly. In many sewing situation iron would help. Maybe that is something to consider in the future as i am starting to create more upcycling content. Either way... I am sharing my sewing as a homemaker (not a professional). It still works out even with some shortcuts. I like to save time. Also a fun fact... I used to do a lot of ironing as a child chores... maybe that is one of the reasons i resent it a little lol. I hope my answer makes sense. Best wishes :)

I think there are so many places where the fabric is gathered that ironing wouldn't make a difference anyway.

You have a valid point too! Thank You for a comment! Since I reuse the textiles sometimes more than once, I change and re-change It makes sense that I do not spend too much time on one project. I get in the zone with it and kinda go with it without fear of messing it up. And it always works out ha ha @@kathrynledger

Thank You for a comment! I agree about the music, many have commented the same. It was a newbe fail. I am learning editing as I go and I learn from fails here and there :) I was a lot more aware about the music in my next videos. The next 2 upcoming videos do not have any background throughout most of the footage. :)

The repeating of short music piece annoys me. It would be better, if there MUST be music at, that a longer piece or different small pieces follow around.

There is a set way to do it I know you’re not supposed to go over the needles that’s going to break your needle that you’re sewing with I would never recommend anyone to do whatever they want if they’re novice telling them oh it doesn’t matter leave it in or take it out no you have to take it out so you don’t break your needle or else you’re gonna be going through lots and lots of needles cause you keep running over a needle in it breaks your sewing needle so no I wouldn’t recommend to tell someone how to do it anyway you want no there is a set rule that you have to take the needles out as you sew!!!!
@hippiecrowhub
@hippiecrowhub 10 ай бұрын
I have been seeing people sewing over the needles pinned sideways. To be honest it makes me feel nervous LOL I do not think I am in a position to tell them not to do it. I certainly feel more comfortable removing pins as I showed. I think everyone here is free to choose what they want to learn. Many times in life some old rules get debunked so If I am not 100% certain of something I would not say You must do it this way. People can think for themselves. I hope... Thank You for the comment! I appreciate different opinions.

Please lose that terrible background noise and you'd do yourself a lot of favours if you bought an iron and then used it. You have some good ideas and it's really great that you upcycle but please iron your fabric

Why don’t you do a running stitch on the ruffle instead of doing it that way a running stitch would be a lot easier to make it fit the bottom of the skirt I wouldn’t do it your way you got a few things I wouldn’t do your way Especially when you say not to iron clothes that’s the biggest tip that you ruined you should iron the clothes it’s a must and for your fabrics to be flat for sewing To say it’s not necessary is just crazy it is necessary and if you’re lazy then don’t do a show but you’re teaching people to do wrong things because you’re too lazy to do it every material after you so it should be ironed it relaxes the material keeps things together better and you get to see what you’re sewing better especially when you’re adding pieces so I would never follow your instructions cause you’re doing the lazy thing and you’re teaching people to be lazy I would never do anything your way never And you don’t need to up cycle your sewing machine just get the proper needles there’s needles for denim that’s why they have numbers on needles because every needle has a purpose from being thin fabric to up to the thickest fabric this won’t be any more watches from your show it’s just you’re just telling people to be lazy and that’s not what sewing is you can’t iron your stuff and you can’t do things properly don’t teach because you’re teaching all the wrong things I won’t ever watch your show again ever

Maybe I will look into Your way. You are free to do it how You want to and how it works for You best. As I mentioned many times I am sharing the process of DIY refashioning old clothing as a homemaker, not a professional. I think my videos are not telling people how they have to do it, or teaching them my way... It is more about sharing the creative process. Everyone has slightly different groove to doing things.
