Very inspiring Koa. Getting off alcohol, weed, drugs and staying clean and healthy is one of the best decisions you can make in life. I think you inspired a lot with this film, well done.

So inspirational bro, I had an accident with a saw and lost the end of my thumb. I work with my hands and got pretty depressed after, feeling incomplete and like I would never be the same. I had a pretty emotional mushroom trip and it really made me realise that I’m the same person I was before and I have so much to live for and so much to do. I quit smoking and drinking, started stretching and meditating and watched my world transform. I’m gonna come back to this whenever I need motivation. Thank you Koa and family

After having several (many) TBIs I can relate to this. Never knew that mushrooms might help. I will try anything to get off big pharma. Now I just need to move back to Hawaii, I was more at peace there than anywhere I have lived. Thank you Koa.

Woww, believe it or not. But thar was insane, I just watched it and at the deepest point of the video when Koa was talking about being in the river questioning life, a little earthquake was going on in my room. I mean I am in Guatemala and with all the volcanos this might be a normal thing, but watching this with headphones having goosebumps and then your bed and rooms starts to shake, man life is crazy in a beautiful way! Thanks for sharing Koa🤍

Love the metaphor. Takes courage to go under and strength to resurface. Everything, every moment, is always brand new isn't it. I've heard that the use of Psilocybin as a therapy for depression has so far been successful. It definitely needs to be explored further. This is a great share, may you and yours be always blessed.

Had the same wipeout at Nias. Not quite as big swell but close. Also had a bumpy road with mental health. You're lucky you had good family and friends with you for your journey back to happiness. Lost my cousin to suicide last year. Sister 20 years ago. Great to see you managed to come back. Always think of Andy Irons when times get tough. Remember I'm also lucky to be here and still surfing at close to 50. Hope to see you guys back in Indo some time. :)

Awesome and inspiring video, Mushrooms and hallucinogenics definitely open up and activate different parts of your brain that may have never been used before. You definitely see the world differently afterwards. I knocked myself out 2 weeks ago foiling and still do not feel 100%, funnily enough, I was studying brain injuries at uni at the same time, I got a different perspective of it all while lying in hospital waiting for a cat scan. I still don't feel right and have also given up smoking weed as I felt that I was not processing and remembering stuff at uni after this injury. You can only take so many hits to the head before it starts to affect you permanently. A lifetime of smoking probably doesn't help either. Hopefully, I am on the road to recovery too. Look after your brain bro.

So heavy! Lucky u had incredible support! So many good people around you that love you. I hope at some point u reach the pinnacle of your development in mazlows hiarchy the altruistic plane. When your thoughts turn to helping others. When you look around and see others struggling and they dont have the support and love of good humans around them so that they can make good decisions. And at that point you will step up in some capacity and become that support for these people and be their example: it can be done, i did it. So heres how. And then you will be complete. Fondest aloha to u brada!

when i finished watching it i was so shocked it was only 12 min .. it felt like long trip to many places . time was gone . that kind of traumas we experience in our lifes are really gifts , first we don't realize it and we feel so bad until we take the power back . From darkness to the light one can`t exist without another . 2 accidents that i experienced showed me power of life many around me don't understand , they call me crazy then - but i get it , i was there and now I'm here .. i elevated i see life and what's around way differently now . the urge to enjoy the life to feel everything its bigger .. you know how fast it can finish - just like that - BAM! - i felt it twice - double power hahah . Anyway , i wish we all come out from the darkness and enjoy the life - that what its about ...
