Thank you for sharing this. In 1982 I was a mess. Broken dysfunctional family, addicted to drugs. I had just hitch hiked across the USA (scared, broke). I remember saying to God that I could not relate to church music at all. A week later I was sitting in front of this band. It was as if God was saying okay, here then. I surrendered my heart to Christ right then and there. Christian rock was deeply frowned upon back then so it was struggle for Christian bands in the beginning. Resurrection band, thank you for your selflessness, courage and love.

@@hanstokke9950 Not really. Stryper was really influenced by Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Thin Lizzy, Scorpions ect. There were bands singing about eternal issues long before Rez. The early Uriah Heep Hensley/Byron era. Hensley has always been a believer. He got caught up in the success aspect. There are believers and unbelievers that record Music. Some of the Godliest songs come from unbelievers, when they were "searching". Its hard to put a style of music in a box, or genre. Jerusalem's albums like "Warrior" "Dancing on the head of the serpent" and the live album. Stand the test of time with anyone. Alice Cooper talks about his realtionship with Christ. Unfortunately its hasn't been in his music, since the mid 1990's Last Temptation/Brutal planet. Then you have Blackie Lawless, who explicitly puts the Gospel in his music, like "Golgotha" and "Babylon". He re-recorded the Crimson Idol. Removed the profanity. Some of the Godliest stuff came from Nikki Six and SIX AM. The Heroin diaries and "This is going to hurt" Christ is working in many hearts, through music of all kinds. dygertron entertainment. I never expected to meet the guy at a little outreach church in Calgary, Ab, Canada. But there he was. He said "I'm just a man serving Christ" which I knew of course. LOL. 11:00 APARTHEID IN 1981??!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? BACK THEN, THIS BAND WAS PUNK ROCK FOR STANDING UP LIKE THAT!!! I'm an openly gay man, so the "Born Again" scene was never anything I wanted to be a part of. But almost 40 years later, I've NEVER forgotten this band. I'm an old school punk rock guy from Cypress (O.C.) and was given the album "Colours" by a friend of mine in high school around 1982 (?). I remember being totally impressed with the music and content on the record. There was a song on there called "American Dream" that blew me away. We saw them at this same place sometime around '81 or '82. Too funny. Back then, we had a hard time finding Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa because it was "way out in the boonies" and was surrounded by acres of orange groves... Not like that there anymore.😃 Anyways, I remember this band did not disappoint. Do believe I'll get herbalized and watch this show tonight. Chuck Smith was a cool dude. He reminded me of my hippie surfer brothers and their friends. Very easy going and seemed really sincere. thanks for posting ! 😎✌

And the owner was always gracious to play the music we brought on our cassette tapes that we recorded at home with all kind of music. One of those songs that passed many times was the live version of "Can't stop loving' you" from Live Bootleg. Dozens of none believers listening to that song and Glen's rap following it, so many times haha, that was amazing! It brought great conversations with people asking about it and even new friends. I first got to see them on the Colours Tourbut was fortunate to see them several times - every tour up until Civil Rites! This is obviously the Mommy Don't Love Daddy Anymore Tour. Fortunately, I lived in Portland, Oregon, and the Twin Cities where they would always tour!
