That noise you hear is the oil draining down into the pan from the top end, While you have the valve covers off it might be a good idea to make sure the oil passages aren't partially clogged slowing the oil draining into the pan, I highly doubt it with as clean as that engine looks but you have the covers off already. And that engine sounds great! It smoothed right out!

I love that you got this thing to live again. I had a mint, all white with red interior, 1954 Super. I still can't believe it was 12 volt! It had a huge, long rectangle, soft top, 12V battery that still worked and started the car. All electric everything too. It had electric seats, windows and antenna. Floor starter, push the gas pedal half way down and it would engage the starter.

Air conditioner was an option in 1954 and 1955 and the evaporator coils were located in the trunk on the top deck. There were clear plastic duct tubes in the rear deck and they deflected the cold air forward. It cost about $700 which was very expensive 0:36

Just a small suggestion When turning an engine over with a socket wrench it helps to either use a ratchet with a three foot handle, or slip a pipe over it. it saves a bunch of scraped knuckles, and also gives you a better idea of the difficulty of rolling the engine over. The gurgling noise is natural if your water pump is not functioning. Put a belt on it and you will not hear it as much.

Ok the cooling system in that car is probably the most elaborate thing you've ever seen. I have a 55 Buick. There is a heater core in the dash, another under the drivers seat, and then it goes into the trans pan to work as a trans cooler. If I remember right its close to 50ft of hose. Also make sure the thermostat works. When you replace it, drill a small like 1/8 hole in it to help you bleed the system. Also the power brake master cylinder is super expensive to rebuild. But there's another version out there. Respond if you want a link. The windows are electric by the way not hydraulic, and you can take the motors apart and clean them and 99% of the time they work.
@resurrectionauto57143 жыл бұрын
The cooling/ heating system is insane on these things! Thanks for the tips on the thermostat. And ya if you’ve got any tips on the electric windows please text me or give me a call 715-418-0230

Well, the water pump isn't working at this point, and while I can't hear the noises you're describing, it sounds like it could be water in the block? I had a 55 Buick Special; it didn't have the power windows, but it was very similar to what you've got there. Beautiful cars! Literally a land yacht. They literally flow going down the road. :)

Of course we want to see the Mustang running! At least I do! I want to see them all running! I cut my teeth on GTO'S and Lemans and Firebirds when I first got my own place, Then a few Cutlass, Chevelles , Camaro's and Skylarks, But in the last ten years I have gotten some really good deals on Fords! I never get just one of a car though! I got a good deal on a nice 78 Thunderbird, then a 75 Ford Grand Torino Elite, Of course if I get two of a car thats 45 years old a third one has to follow for a parts car! I know these aren't the most popular cars out there but I decided I like them for some reason! Since I retired I had to buy the adjoining property to mine twice to have room for the cars I keep dragging in! They're harder to find in Ohio because they all rust apart!

He never checked the rotor, if it doesn't make contact with the cap, it doesn't matter if you clean the points or the inside of the cap. You check the oil and drain it. Then pull the pan and wipe it and the pick up off and then put oil in and turn the oil pump under the distributor with either a drill or a screwdriver, and do this 3 times before you try to start it up.

It was just resting, waiting for someone who cares enough to tickle the throttle a little. Water is very iffy at the moment but for the rest wow. I remember that sound that you refer to as being a sound like a bellow on a accordion and it would sigh a little. Something to do with ride level seems to be floating in this 73 year old head of mine. I never liked the way they drove.... kinda like bathtub that you pointed as all four corners were coil springs. Speaking of springs, Those seats might come to life again in the right upholstery shop with a few small patches in the door corner trims on the bottoms. Also the vacuum wipers are a pain but buick had the best double diaphragm fuel pump with the top diaphragm for the wiper and its separate vac tank. I am believing the black exterior was correct but man oh man, all white exterior would make it look dressed up with that interior shined up. Whitewall tires on those looked right, not a favorite to me either. Sweet mama, dual exhaust is the right way and not real loud but enough. One thing I think you will fight is the wiring is the Wire, rubber wrap, cloth outside with a colored thread to explain its destination. They just crumble in hands so its a don't bend or rewire to keep from burning down/LOL... a nice find. That mustang has its own following as I am a ford kind of guy and raced them clear to Arlington where three races and three upside-downs told me to go home and study the learning to drive manual.

Really like the Roadmaster. Pops had a '52. Long time back; I'm 72 years old. Want to see that '54 on the road. But clean up the body a little if you have a chance. Right now looks like sh--; very undignified for a top 'o the line Blue-ick (yes, we called them by that name back in the day). Also find the fastback 'stang very appealing. I'm sure you'll get to that one too. Cheers, guys.
