Ret Paladin DECIMATES Stonevault +9 in Epic Two Chest Run!

Whats up everyone and welcome back! This time we face off against a Mythic Raiding Warrior ilevel 626 who's a really great player. We are in a Stonevault +9 farming the Skarmorak trinket. I am ilevel 623 here and have been spamming stonevaults to upgrade this 606 trinket. Templar just got some buffs, but I'm still rockin' the Herald of the Sun Build as are many other Ret I see. Hi guys, I get a lot of questions about hero trees and single target vs aoe so here is a break down of it and my 2 cents. Right now my stats are: Crit 22% (9111) Haste 19% (9649) Mastery 46% (15554) Vers 2% (1420) Here are my sims using Mythic Plus builds for each: www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/qNat1vmjfgoCLa9w4Hfr82 Herald ST 775k www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/inyYjKJaTLZPz9fRS71MJ5 Herald AoE 3.245M www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/piDacnrbctkWNSE3b1Z9JP Templar ST 799k www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/5vc3jwxUfEyuRvU4S47MQq Templar AoE 3.09M I will try a couple of dungeons for each hero tree this weekend. But looking at this data I strongly lean toward Herald still for one major reason. Overall the dps potential looks about the same, templar is 24k greater on a single target, and herald is 155k greater in AoE. But templar is definitely harder to play optimally with a much higher chance to overcap holy power. Sure a highly skilled player might be able to avoid overcap but most of us will waste some holy power and that will lead to a large dps loss. Either way they are very close. You will probably find that "Raid Builds", variations of M+ talents, different item levels or stat spreads give a little bit different data, but thats my take on it. Hope this helps!

testing out templar, you need atleast 22% crit, then you will have a bit lesser aoe than heralds(atleast with my gear 614 ilevel), but better single target

Hi leroycastermans!! I did a lot of testing on Templar back in beta and early retail. I prefer Herald because it feels smoother, so I just kept playing Herald while farming my Skarmorak trinket. Finally got last night, so I will be testing out Templar again this weekend. Thanks for your question!
