Retail stores across America are shutting down as the economy slows in 2024. With fast food restaurants like Boston Market shuttering location all across America.
Access Housing Market data in Florida and other states on Reventure App: www.reventure.app
This is especially true in Florida. Where a large number of restaurants and small businesses are beginning to shut down to a slowdown in consumer spending and 3+ years of inflation that has caused the profit margins of these businesses to evaporate.
The more that this happens, the greater the likelihood that the US enters the long-awaited "recession" that everyone has been predicting.

Wouldn't want to own a restaurant or consumer-facing small business in this economy. Costs skyrocketing out of control. Consumer demand fading. We will see more of these stores shutting down in 2024/25 unfortunately. Let me know if you're seeing anything like this happen in your area.

You can still make a good living off of a place like that, but it has to be you working. Not a franchise. Literally you running a store or coffee shop all day long to keep costs down. No employees. Just you and you alone to keep costs down. People will still pay for a cup of coffee. But you're not going to be making $5 on each one, either. More like 50 cents profit and a $3 drink.

The local deli (small business that is locally owned and not a chain) is the only place I do take out from. The people working there have been mentioning how the business slowed. I no longer stand in 6-8 people lines there, but 2-3 people at most. Looks like their traffic halved at least.

It costs about 25 to 30 dollars for one meal at the grocery store where I live, if you want to eat 1 meal a day that's 150 plus dollars a week. It's about the same to eat fast food every day if you eat once a day. We can't afford to eat a meal every day or once a week most times so we've been eating poison from cans and ultra processed foods that are cheap. The stores are getting worse and worse and the only thing that makes sense is to cook 50 dollars worth of food and eat it for 3 or 4 days. But even then it costs too much and I used to make good money. Now my paycheck is gone before I even get to see it. Wish that these business and greedy people would make it make sense that in the richest country in the world people can't afford to eat.

I think it's heading towards a depression. Just like 100 years ago, the working class are sucked dry and an economy that is run off of consumerism simply now has zero forward movement. People don't spend money because they can't. Last night I was very hungry and could have gotten some fast food, but instead came home and spent 30 minutes (still hungry, including time to drive home) to make a burger. To save $2. I just simply don't buy anything, any more, unless it's absolutely required. I find that I've been, over my lifetime, a fairly representative/average person in terms of how things work in the economy. So, if I am at that point, it's nearly everyone.

Friends: Back in 2009, I was doing well, living a middle class life, etc. Divorce and constant job loss ruined me. I was cast into poverty, and to survive it, I had to relearn and learn new dogfighting skills about life and people. Thing is: that was 14 years ago. Yes, I recovered, but many won't, so sorry. To survive, you must now learn how to live on less. If you want good food, best you learn how to cook the basics. Want a good haircut, buy your own trimmer and learn how to cut your own hair. You want to enjoy a movie, watch what's on free tv. You want decent clothes, learn to wash your own and wear til they wear out. Want to eat out? Only go out when there's specials. In essence: Just cut back for awhile til things change.

HOAs serve a purpose that many people can't seem to do themselves. I'm part of our HOA 3 years now. I knew the CCRs when I closed. And I accepted the conditions, nothing is extreme in the rules. People still don't take care of their home appearance to maintain a good looking neighborhood. Simple things like pulling weeds, not parking on landscaping, storing trash. These are the main issues. We aware, and warn, and warn, and then assess a fee and still get complaints. I'm a homeowner too so I have to upkeep my yard too. Lots of brick and mortar stores closing or are in trouble big time mostly because of the huge shift of people buying online. Malls are self destructing. Us older people used to enjoy the experience of in person shopping, and enjoyed a day out. The younger people who have grown up in the internet age simply buy online. It was really downhill during covid when stores were shut down and people were forced to buy online.

Retailers can also think about how they are treating the customers they STILL DO HAVE! My family and I have United Airlines travel perks and take a lot of mini vacations. We just recently had two nights booked at the Renaissance Place in Palm Springs, CA and were treated LIKE SH**!!! We are Bonvoy Gold Elite members of Marriott, but even if we weren’t! Unreal! It is supposed to be a 4 star luxury hotel near downtown. But, we had NO WORKING air conditioning in our room. There was also NO air conditioning cooling the hallways, elevators, or common space! When I asked for a room upgrade for the four hour trouble repairing the air conditioner, they rudely and purposefully gave us a room with a view of the dumpster and an ugly old wall! And it was done ON PURPOSE because the front desk took issue with me complaining and told me if we wanted a nicer room we could have booked one and paid for it!! Unreal!! It’s the slow season in the desert so you’d think they’d happily accommodate us for coming there in 107 degree heat! But NO!! And they refused to give us our money for the second night back so we could leave. We had to tough it out. The air conditioning went out again on our second day there. Extremely unpleasant. I read the reviews and this no air conditioning stunt has been ongoing for a very long time. After our second miserable night, we checked out at 5:30am, flew to San Diego, and stayed at the Westin and that was wonderful. NEVER stay at Renaissance Place on Tahquitz Way in Palm Springs!!! Do not patronize them!!! I am appalled!!!

What will happen in Florida with the next housing crash will be what happened in 2008. The cities got used to all the tax revenue from inflated housing prices and spent like wild thinking it would never end, all governments do this insane thing. They then cried and cried when the crash happened because they were addicted to overspending do to the inflated prices. Large areas of development became ghost towns for years. Lastly a lot of home owners who were foreclosed on destroyed their houses before the house went back to the bank. So buyer be ware when buying a foreclosed house you think is a "deal" it could have all kinds of damage costing thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars to fix. I just saw it in my neighborhood where renters were evicted, their main power input into the house was destroyed (big $$$ to fix) the pool and carpets was destroyed, and that's what I know was damaged and this was by evicted renters, imagine a homeowner who is super angry and losing a lot of money and being forced out. By the way Publix is way expensive, I go to Walmart. Publix can charge over a dollar more per item than Walmart. I also called, a few years ago, that the restaurant business was going to be in big trouble with inflation and the lock downs. It happened slower than I thought it would but it did happen and it has a long way to go.

I'd say this, for those who are having trouble finding a job, come drive a bus. This is one of the few sectors that's HIRING despite bad economy, A.I., or whatever else. Plus, it's great pay, great benefits, it's stable; I meet great people, I get PLENTY of free time, and I PLENTY of days off. In fact, with my days off, I travel. I went to I'm going to Peru in 2 weeks from now, last Winter I went to Mexico, and in the Winter, I'm going to do a tour of Europe going through Spain, Portugal, Italy, and other places. I drove by a Boston market in dallas where it started, i even went to the original one the people was great. He problem was they got purchased years back, and they changed the way the food was being prepared. So people stopped spending money.

@scottstempmail9045 sure after prices go up by another 50%. They will pull back 3% in 2032 and he will say told you. But if you miss time it you are just wrong. Prices are never going back to 2020 prices, actually prices are never going back to 2023 prices.

These businesses are not necessary and serve overpriced meals. We had a Boston Market but few went in during good times. It's so cheap to go to Costco and get chicken. The demand wasn't there. If you want to find the people go to chick fil a. We just opened three in my town.

Why would online food ordering mean fast food restaurants closing? The food still needs to be made.

The 40% commission the food apps charge forces the dining in prices higher to subsidize the delivies and to make the delivery part of the business to the ordering custome is not so badu
