R108 is a superior radio. Except for SSB and RDS, it has almost everything of D808 that too in a smaller form factor. I love to use it very much. Sometimes, the listening time is more with it compared to others as it sounds better than D808 even! Unfortunately, I couldn't identify the exact chipset used in this radio. If you know that please share the chip id. Also, due to the sound quality I use R108 as a Bluetooth speaker also despite the functionality is absent in this model. How, I will share in a video soon.😊

Debojyoti ji, namaskar. Yes R-108 is a super cool Radio. It's only that it is way behind than D-808 on FM band. It runs on Silicon Labs SI4734 dsp chip while D-808 runs in SI4735.

But after knowing this, I am wondering why the performance of D109 in FM and SW bands is sub-par compared to R108 although they are using the same chip. D109 is cheaper also with MP3 and BT features. What exactly makes D109 inferior then?

​@@debojyoti5394Not only, chip, but it depends on the whole circuit design. RF coils, type, quality and value of various capacitors, filters, ferrite bead material etc affect the whole performance. In olden days, all the radios were constructed by BF 494 and BF 495 transistors in RF stages and BC 148 and a pair of AC 128 in amplifier stage but their performance were different due to other components such as coils, driver transformers, ferrite rod material, capacitors, trimmers etc. So, only similar chip set or transistors can't give equal performance without using the quality of other components which is essential for optimum performance. Hope, this will help you.

@@pravindersheoranJust watched your FM comparison. Summary of that video as per my understanding is 1. For weak signals R108 reception is slightly better both with whip and external antenna. 2. D109 suffers from overloading with external antenna. These two findings are absolutely in-line with my opinion. Even I have found with some prominent signals D109 reception was with lot of static noise for some FM stations in my place. So, don't these two points mentioned by you make D109 a bit inferior for DXers compared to R108?

मेरा fm रेडीओ बीना इंनटींना से मुंबई के सब स्टेशन अच्छा चलता है पर मूंबई के बहार का कोई भी स्टेशन नही पकडना क्या वजह है क्या मुंबई सी समूद्र लेवल पे है इस वजसे रेडीओ xhdata 328 है अभी दो दीन पहीले लीया है 1440 rs मे अँमझोन पर
