Perfect review Jason. Thanks for posting this, you hit everything I was wondering about without going into too much detail about the FUN menu or owners manual. No need to spend more than 10 minutes on a review and you knocked it out in 9:26. Awesome! 73

FUN! Yep, radio reviews are a bit of fun for me, and probably others as well. I have purchased some of the Retevis handheld radios, and find them to be a great emergency/prep option. The RA25 would be a great addition for a base radio or to keep in touch with family members when checking in on them during the week :)

Fun, Just got one after watching a couple reviews. We use GMRS when traveling with the family in multiple cars. Planning to mount this on in my car so I don't have to use the hand held., figured it was small enough not to get complaints from the better half.

Radio can be set as a dual band amateur radio. While the radio is off, hold the V/M button in while turning the radio on. This will put you in MODE function. Use the arrow keys to select what MODE or frequency range you want it to transmit on, shut off radio and turn back on. I set mine to the 136-174/400-490MHz so it is wide open. Now, as far as the wattage claims, it should be 25w on VHF and 20w on UHF.

I have done this with my BTech 25w rig. I using heavy duty outdoor Velcro mounted the rig via bracket onto a small cutting board. Use Velcro for mic. Had ABR make a short M-F coax pigtail. In car, secure using passenger seat belt. Then I can take rig out of car. Today's version of CB mount. This rig looks like it could be done in a similar fashion. Why the ABR pig tail? So the pig tail takes the on and off abuse, not the rig.

I've asked this question repeatedly, I bounced it off Lewis (Ringway Manchester) as to Wether or not it might happen, it'd be a great stepping stone towards understanding repeaters etc, which would enlighten many prospective ham operators for example. As you'll be aware 11metre use here does utilise many ham "protocols" I do anticipate it's arrival at some point.

Fun. My HR2.0 Mystery Box had this radio! I am looking at using it as a packable ham radio. I believe it tries to get around the regs by not allowing both ham and gmrs transmit frequencies to be programmed at once. Basically wipes the program entries when modes are switched. And the Retevis software is annoying because no entries can be pasted; all entered by typing individually.
