Thomas, you are an amazing instructor. I've taught via videos as well and you just can't leave one step out and you didn't. Also your calming music, the flowers, getting up and taking a break. I absolutely have enjoyed your two videos, How to use Zoom for the first time and this one. Really very helpful. Paced well. Can go back and repeat as often as needed. Wish there was a way to try out a going thru the basic steps in a fake meeting format while being talked thru the process. Thanks for the help.
@CozyGrammar4 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much for your comment! We appreciate it. One thing you can try is to set up a practice meeting with a friend. That way you can explore the process without the pressure of having to run a real meeting at the same time. You can also make a recording of this practice meeting to review afterwards. The main thing, though, is simply to jump in. Once you've given it a try, it will definitely feel less intimidating. Do let us know if we can be of any further help: www.cozygrammar.com/contact/ Your comment has gotten us thinking about possibly putting together practice sessions for individuals or small groups. Would this be of interest to you? Do let us know. Thanks again for your comment, and all good wishes to you.

The best thing to do is to make them a host rather than a co-host. Then you can leave the meeting and they can continue to conduct it. You can read more here: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362573-Passing-host-controls-to-leave-the-meeting All good wishes to you!

At 3:03 I get a different screen than what you show here. You get a solid blue button that says “schedule a meeting “. My button is at the very right side (white rectangle outlined in blue). Most of the page is about Meetings. “Meetings: upcoming; previous; personal room; meeting templates “.

Thanks. Very helpful. Is there a way to play a game at a family holiday Zoom meeting?
@CozyGrammar4 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for your comment, Joanne. Yes, there certainly is. While you can Google something like "games for Zoom meetings," it's also fun and a more festive challenge to try "translating" games that you already enjoy as a family into a Zoom meeting. For example, you can play a game like charades, pictionary, or dictionary by making use of the private chat function. Once you have your teams, you can share the word/idea/image with only your team members. Hope this helps, and Happy Holidays!

Thank you. So many government public meetings are now held by Zoom and so many hosts have no clue what they're doing. Nor do they enjoy being corrected. Think I'll just send them your link. One question. Is there a way to have spell check & correction in chat?
@CozyGrammar3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! Thanks very much for your comment, Clair, and thanks too for sharing the link. We're honored and grateful. As far as spell check & correction in the chat box, it's my understanding that this is only available if you have Windows 8 but not on other machines. In any case, we aren't seeing it in our version. Let's hope it becomes more widely available!

What is the clipboard for?
@CozyGrammar3 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for your question. If you're referring to saving a meeting invitation, "clipboard" is simply a way to refer to what has been copied and can therefore be pasted. Between being copied and being pasted, apps refer to it begin on a "clipboard" (though of course this isn't actually a clipboard). Does this answer your question? If not, be sure to let me know and I'll try again!
@jango19704 жыл бұрын
I do not get that screen you show at 1:58 (after clicking on zoom icon at top of your screen) and I do not get the tab “schedule a meeting “. Maybe because I am using a Chromebook? Or because I am in Canada? Ido not know why my screen is different than yours.

Hi, It is also very important to show people how to "True Mirror themselves" (non-reversed mirror mode)! Here is the "How to" by John Walter the maker of the True Mirror: "Did you know you can change the reversal of your own video on a Zoom call? It normally defaults to a mirrored version, because in typical fashion, Zoom, along with most selfie picture modes, assumes the common notion that we prefer our backwards, mirrored image. It's usually mainly because we are used to it, but there's a problem with that: Our faces just don’t communicate naturally backwards, our expressions really look and feel differently when flipped.

I want to manage my contacts list (e.g. to delete a faulty eddress) but have not been able to do so, nor see a path to do so. I would also like to be able to send meeting invitation to all contacts at the same time. These two points seem to be a "manage contacts" list. Whenever I set out on a search on Zoom or via Chrome, etc., it leads nowhere. Any ideas, please?
@CozyGrammar3 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for your message, Renee. These are great questions. For your contacts, try right-clicking over the contact you wish to remove (it may be control-click if you use a Mac). Then the option to delete contact should appear. You may also see three vertical dots at the right side of each contact. Clicking there opens a menu that includes deleting the contact. As for sending an invitation to all contacts at the same time, this article may help: blog.zoom.us/feature-spotlight-messaging/ I don't have personal experience with it but imagine it's worth taking a look at. Good luck!

To modify an existing meeting, you can either go to your account on the Zoom website, select "Meetings," hover over the meeting name, and select "Edit," or go to the Zoom app, select "Meetings," select the meeting in question, and select "Edit." Hope this helps!

Hi again, Mia. Just wanted to let you know that we've released a guide to setting up breakout rooms in Zoom, in case it may be useful to you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn7ToGOPfsuZZpY. All good wishes for the New Year!

Great video. I am a first time user will I be able to remember all this information?
@CozyGrammar4 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for your comment, Mary! Yes, it can certainly seem like a lot of information. I would suggest hosting a test meeting with a friend or family member. Then, if you find there's something you can't remember how to do, click "show more" in the video description above and you'll find an index to all the different topics in the video. Review any topics you want to remember and soon you'll be well prepared!

Thomas, If I make someone a co-host, will they be able to share their screen? Thanks.
@CozyGrammar4 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for your comment, Phil. Yes, making someone a co-host should make it possible for them to share their screen. Even if someone isn't a co-host, you can allow them to share their screen by way of the participants dialogue window. I think you select "more" and "allow to share screen." All good wishes to you!

Hello again, Phil. Just wanted to correct my last comment. To allow other people to share their screens, go to Share Screen (rather than Participants), click "Advanced Sharing Options," and under "Who Can Share" choose "All Participants." I didn't have Zoom open before me when I wrote previously, but I tested it out today during a meeting and wanted to update my response. Thank you!

What is the difference between free sign up and paid account of Zoom... How many participants can join a meeting by using a free account....and is there a time limit without paying any money....Thank you !
@CozyGrammar4 жыл бұрын
Great questions! The main difference between the free and paid accounts is that the free account has limits on the length of a meeting when more than two people are involved. The free account allows meetings of more than two people for up to 40 minutes. It also allows up to 100 participants per meeting. The paid account allows much longer group meetings as well as more participants. Hope that helps clarify the options!

Under “Meeting ID” at 3:47, it says “Meeting Password” on his screen. Has Zoom changed things since this video was made? But on my screen, it does not say “Meeting Password”. It does say SECURITY. There are 2 options. First option is “Passcode” (only users who have the invite link or passcode can join the meeting. The second option is “Waiting Room” (only users admitted by the host can join the meeting “. I had no idea which option to choose. I went with “waiting room” cuz that is what he had mentioned in this video. Good luck, everyone. We are under lockdown now for a month. I just want a meeting with my friends. It is tough being alone in this situation. Best wishes.
@CozyGrammar4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this comment, Jango. Yes, the format has changed slightly since we made this video. Waiting room simply means that after you begin your meeting you will need to admit each participant individually. This is so that unknown users don't accidentally enter the meeting. Passcode, on the other hand, frees you from having to admit each person individually. Either one can work fine. All good wishes to you and have a great time with your friends! Together we'll get through this tough situation.

but it does not tell how /where to open apps,etc ,videos ,to ultimately screen share.............which comes first? zoom of vdeos?////

Many thanks for your reply. If you think a guide to screen sharing would be helpful, we'd be happy to put one together for you. Let me know what you would find helpful and we'll see what we can do! In the meantime, here's a very quick answer to your question itself: To share videos on Zoom, open Zoom first. Then click the screen share option. Then choose the application you want to share. Give it a try and let me know what questions you have. Thank you!

@@CozyGrammar where are the applications or video's etc stored and how do you retrieve them get them up onto the screen
@CozyGrammar3 жыл бұрын
@@beckymichaelis9014 Great question! You simply need to have the applications and videos open in a window on your computer. Then, when you choose the screen share option, each of these open applications or windows will there for you to choose from. Simply choose the one you want and it should open for you. Give it a try and let us know how it goes!

I recorded a meeting and even though I saw nothing on my screen at the time, when I watch it back, about 8 mins in, someone took over and you see them and their name. If I am the host, how is it possible that someone took it over?
@CozyGrammar4 жыл бұрын
Hi Denise, thanks for your comment. Recording a meeting on Zoom can be a little tricky, but here's what we've found to work. Zoom basically records what you yourself see, so start by making sure you're seeing what you want to have recorded (speaker view or gallery view). Then, if you want the video to focus on just yourself or on someone else you can pin their screen. To do this, you click on their video screen and right click (on a PC) or simply hover (on a Mac) to get the option to pin. Then no matter who talks, the video you've pinned will be recorded. Hope this helps!

@CozyGrammar4 жыл бұрын
@@eileensugden9418 Many thanks for your comment and question. I believe that on an iPad you will need to select the participant icon to admit people into a meeting. On the iPad, this icon will be at the top of the screen rather than at the bottom. Once you click this icon, you will see the option to admit new users. Let me know if this helps, and all good wishes to you!
