There were two mistakes in the video, the Maldives is within range for attrition purposes and the JP SNLF unit would attrit, but not be eliminated. Also 38 + 16 = 54 not 56.

Marvelous! Great video on EoS strategy from the Master. Coincidentally, have this on the table now and spending a lot of time with the game to hopefully learn some of the nuances. Also sheltering in place in NYC so the bot is my "teacher"...Thanks for posting! Steve

Great video. I love the Pacific Theater and got the third addition of the game. It is still very advanced for me to play but I really want to learn to play this well.

Great Video. I have 6 Games under my belt and still struggle with the allies in the early game. So every strategy video from you is highly appreciated.

Can't believe this has been up for a month and I'm only seeing it now. That should tell me to subscribe to your channel! I need to practice the CBI Blitz using the Japanese historical hand then.

Great video. A thought comes to mind that if you have to play the game many times to know what to do, the admirals and generals were playing it for the first time for real. They didn’t get to practice. And outside the scope of the game, i cant imagine churchill would ever have agreed to evacuate singapore- but maybe if india was threatened

This is an awesome video! When playing by myself with historical hand, I always thought a hard hit on the CBI was possible and desirable. The US side can counterplay it very interestingly. Taking wake is very good but the losses of terrain you are able to inflict in the South Pacific are a bit much. Japan will also lose cards if it doesn't control the required resource spaces. I think the success of the CBI blitz (love the name) is due to the lack of knowledge of this tactic and how to counteract it. Quite fitting really. I can imagine the real planners of the war in the pacific panicking over the prospect of losing Indian and Chinese support in the war against the Japanese. It would be a severe blow and the knee jerk reaction would be to spend resources on the theatre to try and salvage the situation but as you said, if, as Japan, you commit 100 attack factors vs 30 or so, the result is a foregone conclusion. Also, a good submarine card can really ruin the CBI blitz. It could cause the Japanese to lose the Carrier cover and all of a sudden, the CBI units could react. At least some of them.

Instead of cards, wouldn't it be better just to have the units with their historical capabilities and logistic support? I always wanted to see the pacific done using like the OCS system for the ground combat and Flat Top for air and naval. Probably a bit unwieldy.

I want to get this game. 3rd printing! May be sold out already, can’t find it anymore. On a side Note, us gamers need a really good, Solitaire Revolutionary War game. Liberty or Death is COIN, and there’s The Battles of the American Revolution series that are “kind of solo playable” playing as both sides..... But a true solitaire Rev War game would be Awesome. Pretty sure it’d be popular. Please I beg, make one! 👍🏻

Empire of the Sun is not sold out yet, here is the link: www.gmtgames.com/p-645-empire-of-the-sun-3rd-printing.aspx I may eventually do another RevWar game, but it will be in the Great Statesmen Series.

Mark Herman - You are awesome, thank you. I’m a new Wargamer here. No idea why when I looked at GMT site, there wasn’t an option to add to cart? I’ll use the link you provided. I really want to add a game designed by you in my now small collection. Thanks!

My god, the map doesn't even have hexes for the Ichi-Go offensive--not too biased in design, huh?

I'm not sure what this is implying, but see my designer's notes.

Ha! ... "nothing for the allies to do in the first few turns" ?? They should try playing "Unconditional Surrender"

Hi Mark - I really like the use of the Historical Hand for the Japanese opening. I have used it in pretty much every game I have played and it leads to consistently intense mid-game play while avoiding flops due to a bad hand.
