So glad the previous owners of my 2009 2.0 xwd had replaced the driveshaft, along with the intake valves and some other parts of the engine, saved me a lot of money and headaches

Whoa man that's like the two main things that go wrong with those years aside from ECU failure very lucky

Ohh my that must have been a pricey bill for the previous owner. Yeaaa I have a video on this channel of doing the valves… stinks it’s such a common problem… also the stupid coil springs 🙃

Yeaa deff had more ecu replacements than valve jobs when I was at the dealership

They can be rebuilt. In fact, zirk fittings can be installed on the U-joints. Also, you can cut, shorten and circle weld, a drive shaft from, I believe a Buick Lacrosse, and probably the caddy. I know a Saab master technician that does this.

thanks for the film. Do you know the tightening torque of the bolts where the prop shaft connects to the rear diff ?

That's ok, you can drive it as a FWD, no harm, until a new propeller shaft arrives. My brother claims he can rebuild mine, if ever needed.

If it was still my car I might have left it in until It broke broke😅

These drive shafts are hard to find. I’m trying to find out. What could I use to replace the hangers are bad
@Retiq Жыл бұрын
What do you mean the hangers?? Like the two supports, the carrier bearings? It

What would somthing like this cost to have a rebuild and have it put in just curious
@Retiq Жыл бұрын
I think the rebuild is under $1k and maybe around 2-3hrs labor. Think this job was around $850 ish With a used driveshaft.
@doug900S2 ай бұрын
@@Retiq Worth it, since you really can't find any. And, I would have them install zirk fittings so that you can grease the U-joints at least. You might be able to get new grease into the carrier bearings with a grease gun syringe. I have one and might attempt it before mine goes bad. I have a tube of Amsoil racing grease. High heat, extreme pressure, high speed bearing grease.

That was a little disjointed Danny. I had a bit of trouble following you and then you ended the video suddenly. Do they object at that shop to you doing KZbin videos? Take care my friend. Ciao.

Sorry about that. Not totally but it takes time to film and we are busy. Iv been I. The middle of building an upgraded engine for an evo 8 and been stopping and going on it as work needs to be done. So I wound up not finishing this repair. So the issues was I heard Buick/cadi driveshaft works on the TX. Turns out it doesn’t work so I got a used TX one. The bolts holding carrier bearing broke and I had to weld the washer on to take the rest of bolt out. So the video ended pretty abruptly and I didn’t have a clear enough A-Z on my whole idea of the repair I apologize,
@wernerdanler2742 Жыл бұрын
@Retiq I saw you get the bolts out. Good job. I could see that the carrier bearings were bad but couldn't tell what was wrong with the driveshaft. Is it the U-joint? Is that one of your cars?
@Retiq Жыл бұрын
@@wernerdanler2742 Okk yea the u joint with the red dust it’s like the rust coming out of it and that what was the issue, making a chirping noise. Also it was my car I sold it to a friend a while ago but hadn’t posted a video of it
