I'm living my best nomad capitalist life the best and with the help of that now I'm 64 and my wife 42 we both retired with over $3 million in net worth,no debt and not even thinking of the US government anymore. Currently living smart and frugal with our money. Saving and investing lifestyle in the stock market made it possible for us this early even till now we earn weekly. Thanks to FIRE movement. Virginia you're just one if the most underrated individual on taxes/live style /finance! God will keep protecting you and your family.

Tight my man, cool to see people like you, kinda reminds me of myself in couple years. I have $90k in the stock market, I make $30k a year at my job, live in my car, and I save $10k a year
@LUKE3904253 жыл бұрын
@ntnt my stocks have grown at 60% rate since Jan 2017; thanks to Tesla. That $90k is lookin like it’ll be $400k by end of 2025.

And that is how it's done! I respect the hustle, too many people making over 6 figures and they spend everything, they'll always be dependent on their income and job, but true financial freedom comes from appreciating assets.

In the last decade or so the market has done really well, which was one reason you saved 650k so fast. I only had $300k in 2009 but now I'm retired with $1.2m, and that was primarily because of the past decade or so. But the decade before that was a complete dud. In January 2000 Dow was at 10k, and on December 2009 it was still at 10k. That whole decade was crap. We all need to keep it mind that a prolonged, even decade-long bad market is always possible. Last year we dodged a bullet, when the market tanked only briefly due to covid.
@moneythoughts2 жыл бұрын
This is true, banking on the long run, and while I like the idea of "being retired" I actually love working and I'm sure I'll start another business and work again. We humans all crave purpose, creating value etc.

Bro from 2000 to 2008 its was almost a real market with real value. Now its inflated like we have never seen. Between Repo Loans, buybacks, QE, mortgage security's being bought, and the fed buying everything there is no longterm gain. These markets will eventually collapse. They are now controlling the 10 year as it was spiking out of control. They have painted themselves in a corner. They can continue to keep stocks afloat at the cost of massive inflation, or they can control inflation at the cost of the economy and the markets. They cant do both.

Love your content! Was wondering why you live in NYC and own an airbnb in Colorado? Do you have ties to NY (family/friends/etc.) that keep you tied there? Regardless, you should be proud of living the simple life and keeping your expenses down in NYC. You've gained yourself a great deal of freedom!
@moneythoughts2 жыл бұрын
I have a bunch of family and friends in NYC, have a few friends in Colorado and I'm a snowboarder and rock climber which goes hand and hand with CO. But Mainly the Airbnb in Colorado was based on research, low property taxes, influx of population, rising housing prices, low vacancy rate, relaxed airbnb laws etc.
@PrimitiveMLG2 жыл бұрын
I understand this. But I feel like if you would have bought real estate you would build wealth wayy faster at a far exponential rate.
@moneythoughts2 жыл бұрын
Well, I did buy real estate, I have an Airbnb in Colorado. Currently, I don't have a high enough income to take out a mortgage for more real estate, not to mention rates are sky-rocketing, and prices dropping. Real estate makes sense if you're leveraging using a mortage, otherwise, I believe growth stocks will be outperforming real estate. as they always have and will continue to do.

I'm surprised you don't receive $700/mth on dividend payouts. I'd think that could be a way of making that $ without having to sell

I prefer to invest in companies that are still reinvesting in themselves, it's a different strategy, apple pays some dividends, but recently sold my apple position for more $TSLA

What about your health insurance, and margin on M1.
@moneythoughts2 жыл бұрын
Good point, I don't think I included Margin, or I may have included it in the cost of owning my car and cash flows of my airbnb as I associate those margin loans with those investments. Good point on health insurance. It's a bit of a private situation, but basically I don't pay for health insurance currently.
