If you notice during the bridge with the flowers on their eyes, their sacrifice is sitting with them. However she has blue lips, while Red Velvet all have pink and lively looking lips. They literally are sitting at the table with a dead person like they are deranged and I love them.

Cosmic is one of the rare title songs of RV that I got into them on the 1st listen itself :) .... Usually I need at least 2 listens, so this was such a surprise to me and I just can't get enough of it !

MIDSOMMAR is also my comfort horror movie. It's aesthetically pleasing and disturbing at the same time and I love how it fits Red Velvet so much. This is my fave era for them.

Wish you hell album is such a great album. His car isn’t yours and Better Judgement are masterpieces. Wendy wanted something different than the “ SM ballads Wendy”. One of the best cd this year. Thank you so much for that react vid. Hope you are feeling better now.

So the MV is inspired by MIDSOMMAR movie, but also by the actual MIDSOMMAR folklore and celebration in Sweden. In which they worship/celebrate the sun and summer solstice. Also, it is said people do little rituals like putting flowers under their pillow to manifest/summon their future partners too. So yeah Red Velvet did their own way which is amazing and super pretty. An extra of the MV explained the music video. The person falling from a sky is a normal human being that landed in an alien world aka Red Velvet’s Midsommar like world. Unfortunately, that person is their target aka sacrifice to worship and celebrate the sun. There’s a lot of emphasis of sun and moon too, so it seems that they had failed sacrifices prior to this human falling in their planet.

The music in the beginning reminds me of the guitar in the chorus of Attention by Charlie Puth and the strings in the chorus remind me of I will Survive by Gloria Gaynor (the part that Ive sampled for After Like).

I'm soooooo happy to see your reaction to these MVs, and yes they keep besting themselves, they keep leveling up, they keep innovating and delivering unique concepts and musical brilliance. I really fall in love with them more and more all the time, and even more every time I hear this song, too. It's so special. The album is super great, as is Wendy's solo album. Well they could leave because they’re not entering this Midsommar cult, the guy falls into their RV “coven/cult” and they are in control…great 10th anniversary. And it comes out on Midsummer day too

Another person who enjoyed Midsommar piping in, if y'all think you can handle it then go for it! There are for sure some dark themes and gore natural to a Horror movie, but short of spoiling it I'll say if you can handle themes of loss and grief, and as expected death and murder, the real warning is in the gore itself, most of it is fine but if head injuries bug you be forewarned there is a specific scene that might be too much for you. If that warning has you on the fence maybe don't check it out, otherwise absolutely do! There's a lot to like about the movie.

I don’t even think they made it out as I find that the whole thing happens backwards. It ends with the Maypole dance at the beginning of solar summer when I figure the May Queen and King should be elected, but they already had been. Midsummer←midsommer the root of the Swedish Midsommar is in June just before the video was released. The “Cosmic” metaphorical imagery or whatever you call it is obviously Chilseok to me in August, or the tale of the (human) woodcutter(/cowherd) and the heavenly maiden(/weaver) in a Korean version where he steals clothes. That’s at the end of solar summer in early August. It does say he falls in the lyrics but suggests into a star. I think the young lady with the plaid shirt and the backpack is playing the traditionally male role . . . The red strings have to do with the threads that tie fated pairs of lovers? This sounds really Swedish to me along with Dreamcatcher’s “We Are Young”. What makes it sound like Daft Punk? I don’t get it . . .

she probably means the post chorus sounds like computer generated harmonies, similar to daft punks music as they were known for that more futuristic style of music. listen to any of their songs, you're likely to hear something similar.

Oh, I see -- thanks! That part goes by so fast and comes across as more of a background chant to me. As if it's samples played on a synth keyboard, but not additionally modified like Daft Punk. At least I know where to look now . . .
