Retired IAF sergeant alleges another officer given Gallantry award for his act of bravery

Jodhpur: Like every year, the Government of India presented the Gallantry Award to eight officers of the Indian Air Force on the occasion of 75th Independence Day. One of these eight officers was Lieutenant D. Ravindra Rao, who was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal for saving the life of a pilot during an accident at the Agra airbase on November 6, 2021.
Speaking to ETV Bharat about the matter, Sergeant Ghanshyam Singh from Jodhpur said although he was not expecting to be presented with the gallantry award, he was disappointed that someone else was given the credit for what he did at the expense of risking his own life.

I also took discharge for the IAF at the time of My attestation. There is a very dark reality of our forces which is still unknown to the outside world. Maximum officers treats jawan as if they are their servants abusing them with bad words. Our forces are still following those British Culture. Inside fauj there is discrimination at every point right from the food quality to stand in a line for medical call. I was injured and I have to stand in line for the whole day but max. officers always uses direct entry .

After you enroll in IAF as a soldier that is airmen , they dont let you resign before 20 yrs even if you dont want to continue it. The only you way you can leave the force is either complete 20 yrs in it or crack any A class service that is IAS or IPS but for that also you have to seek permission.

Iam an retired Sgt similar case happened with me at a f stn Leh citation was prepared by my engg officer flt Lt t Sarkar in 1988 during my posting at air op cheetah helicopter got stuck at a main glacier post I went to the post and with help of engine fitter rectified the problem shelling was going on at the post engg officer was my i c at allahabad air op he was not happy with me and he didn't recommend my name for commendation by goc Northern command. Such things happen with soldiers

Even if some other officer takes the credit why should it matter to you.. It must not matter to you at any cost bcz commendation doesn't define your character.. And yes im not an officer as a matter of fact and yes officers should also do what they are supposed to be doing as an officer of indian armed forces... looking for personal gain of any form does not make one an officer...
