Thanks Theo. I really do appreciate it! Anyone can take control of their finances, it just takes some time and digging to develop a good strategy. So while I am trying to improve my own financial health, I might as well share what I've learned so that others can benefit from it as well. :)

Hi Pieter, I'm about to set up a passive RA fund and I have a question re lump sums: It is better to break a lump some into smaller contributions to cost average it? Or is that not necessary in the context of an RA?

Thanx for great videos. I was retrenched in 2019 I only turned 55 in 2023. Im getting R11275.00 an month. But SARs is taking R600 tax of that. Is that correct . Cant i ask them to not tax that amount. How dos it work Thanx shaun
@alexboshoff8219 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video Pieter! Just to ensure I understand correctly: what is the tax-free limit of the amount I can withdraw fully from the RA *before* retirement? I know it is R500k at retirement/death but how much before retirement? Is that where the R247 500 rules applies? Or is it only R70 000 as I read somewhere?

What happens if I lose my job and can't pay the RA monthly fee, will it just halt until I get a new job and continue paying or will I forfeit all my investment?
@MoneyMarx2 жыл бұрын
Hey Hayden. Usually what will happen is you will need to transfer your Pension fund to a Preservation fund where the investment will continue to grown, but you won't be able to add any new funds to it. If you get a new job, you will probably get a new Pension fund at the new job.

Hahaha I definitely need protection from myself so an RA is a good fit for me 😅

Does the 25% or 350 k annual contribution limit include TFSA or is that contribution separate?
@MoneyMarx3 жыл бұрын
Hey. No a TFSA is seperate from a RA, but both have their own contribution limits. A TFSA has an annual limit of R 36 000 and a lifetime limit of R 500 000, whereas a RA has an annual limit of R350 000 or 27.5% of your gross income, whichever is smallest, but no lifetime limit. But jah they are seperate accounts, so if you have enough money you could max out your TFSA at R36k and your RA at R350k every year 😀
