Many thanks to Tom Santi and Andy Panko for their enlightening discussion. Especially helpful were: 1-Tom, having earned his own Certified Financial Planner credentials, sharing his thoughts and experiences on searching for a financial adviser for himself. 2-Tom’s and Andy’s take on the meaning and interpretation of Monte Carlo probability scores. 3-Tom’s five pieces of advice for retirement planning: A- Don’t neglect the non-financial aspects of retirement because they may be more important than the financial. B- Make efforts to understand your relationship with money, i.e. what money means to you. C- Save and invest regularly, and stay invested. D- Don’t neglect your earnings power while accumulating wealth but also keep balance in your life. E- Set financial goals which you can control (e.g. how much to save and invest); don’t set goals which are dependent on uncontrollable factors such as the markets going up or down (e.g. a goal of earning XX% on your investments).

Great chat. I was impressed with Tom's objective and thoughtful approach to the topics discussed. I can learn something about not accepting the conventional wisdom quite as easily. The recommendations were great, both the books and for retirement. The idea of creating a book or knowledge base for finding an advisor really resonated-I've thought of this myself as something that needs to be done both from seeing the challenge others go through and from my own personal experience.

Great conversation. The reference to Money Talk with Bob Brinker was nostalgic. That show was my first exposure to financial broadcasting (AM radio before podcasts). Bob was a class act.

Thank you for a great discussion Tom and Andy. I particularly liked Andy's discussion of the Monte Carlo methodology, score and how they should be looked at and used. I also liked Tom's overall advice for retirement planning.

Question: I am planning, at some pint, to downsize. Selling my home will bring a windfall and , since I am single, I worry this could trigger an IRMAA when medicate kicks in if I do not sell before age 63 when the look back kicks in. Should I downsize before 63? Will the IRMA be lifetime or just the year my income jumps?

I had initially planned to retire at 62, work part-time, and save money, but the impact of high prices on various goods and services has significantly disrupted my retirement plan. I'm worried about whether those who experienced the 2008 financial crisis had it easier than I currently am. The volatility of the stock market is a concern as my income has decreased, and I fear that I won't be able to contribute as much as before, potentially jeopardizing my retirement savings.

The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.

Mind if I ask you to recommend this particular coach to you using their service?
