Hum, appears you’re both still working and working hard after retiring - I can see the sweat and your endless scheduling. Great if it’s working for you (?), but many of us are simply enjoying the peace, contentment and joy of simplicity. I enjoy my family and friends, play pickleball, travel and all when I want. I am generous with myself as others ask. I also spend time with Me and reflect on this journey I’m in called Life. You two appear youthful and full of energy like myself, but still racing on the merry go round. Schedules and lists may hide a myriad of things we’d rather avoid and trap. More slow and easy may surprise and enlighten. All the best to all.

When I left work. That was it. I am retired 10 yrs. I did help look after my Mom for 1st year of retirement sadly she passed. I was also separated for years and in another relationship so I got my Divorce. Retirement gives you a chance to do things you have not had the time. I was so glad to be around to go shopping etc with my Mom the last year of her life. We had an amazing time. Now my partner and I just hop in the car and visit amazing places. Sometimes stay 3 weeks away other times just one night. We have been to many European cities and now want to explore lots of Canada. I lived for a while in Montreal when I was younger. Happy memories. We now have an apartment so easy to leave for extended periods. I just say to everyone enjoy your retirement. It is real freedom.

It sounds like you have a great plan and vision for your retirement. That’s great and so important.

May I suggest a small change that we try to do that makes our lives easier in retirement? Instead of doing the chores and outings, etc., most non-retired people have to do on the weekend, we do them on weekdays to save time for the younger folks. We bkie ride, shop, make appointments, travel, from Monday to Friday, early so there are also fewer crowds and more parking spaces! We “work” from Friday to Monday! We love it!

Retirement means different things to different people. I am a few years into retirement and have certain commitments but the rest of my time I schedule freely for myself and lots with my husband, family and friends. No more work commitments and things I really don’t have to do!!! I do find the continued use of my planner is helpful for scheduling everything that I commit to or must do. Enjoy your second careers👍

This was so helpful. I’m the type of person who has to have my day scheduled and that is why I am nervous about retirement. This helps put it in perspective.

If you started a business, you haven’t retired. We’re retiring in 2 weeks. We’re closing a 19 year internet business and I have NO plans to build a business. Ever. Been there, done that for 45 years with working. Kinda defeats the whole idea of retirement, doesn’t it?

Thank you Beach Town Stitchie for watching our videos. We appreciate that you are here. We really don't think what we are doing is work in the traditional sense. We both had long successful careers. This is more of a passion and helps fill our day with meaningful and fulfilling activities. As we do more videos, engage with more clients, we are learning and growing as well. There is no cookie cutter approach to what we do in retirement, so you need to find what works for you. Staying fit and healthy is for sure a core pillar of our retirement. Thanks for you comments!

I agree. Starting a business is NOT retiring especially YT. Keep schedule and commitment to your viewers is like work itself. Retirement is supposed to be relaxing, be happy and not caring about making money or having goals.

All my working life - 47 years to date, been all about career, saving for pension. So little - actually nothing indeed on what it really means to retire, the mindset shift and all that comes with that. Companies could well do with creating upcoming retiree cohorts to help people transitioning into retirement indeed I feel. I like what you both are doing and sharing because it makes one think as well - I'm still finding my way, semi-retired looking for some work to create an income stream alongside pension income. My wife is 13 years younger and not retiring anytime soon and so we are out of sync age wise on retirement. However, must be positive and create this new chapter. 😀Peter U.K.

Why do you Yanks say you retire . than keep working ! you haven't retired , you just changed careers !
@mitchrodee Жыл бұрын
Yes, that’s what I was thinking. It’s understandable that they prioritized their newly-created business as becoming successful in anything requires time and effort, but they did not retire by most people’s definition.

Thanks Jimmy. We would love to change or even eliminate the word retired. We clearly have more time to do some things we could not during our busy career. Travel, golf, reading and writing. And we also have carved out to to run our KZbin channel. It helps us find new snd healthy ways to live this phase and help others at the same time.

Sorry guys but your headline is fraudulent. Similarly your content. Have you really retired ? What does retirement really mean to you ? Just because you have 'retired ?' doesn't give you the excuse to start a private business ! I am now extremely dubious about your priorities as well as your giving advice to retirees about how to run their lives. Suppose you will be shortly offering Franchises to your business ? A bit hypocritical if you ask me.

Wow- there’s a lot to unpack here. So first we did retire in 2018. Both left careers of over 30 years. Once we spent a year doing what we thought retirement would be for us we noticed we were unhealthy, tired and not feeling our best. So we searched for a non financial plan in retirement and when we didn’t find one anywhere… we started to build one ourselves based on 5 Pilar’s - physical wellness, mental wellness, relationships, spouse/partner relationship and wisdom sharing. We did research and pulled together a plan. I’m not sure that is “dubious” in any way and these are clear priorities for us. We started this business after helping friends and coaching people who wanted more out of the next 30 years Franchise? … no we aren’t looking to do that. Thanks for taking time to comment we appreciate the engagement.
