A Magical Musical Retreat in Purmamarca: La Comarca Festival
This June, a remarkable musical retreat took place at the serene and breathtaking La Comarca Hotel in Purmamarca, Jujuy-a place where music and nature intertwine to create an unforgettable experience for all involved. The work was carried out with the support and collaboration of the team at La Comarca Hotel.
For four days, around thirty students from across Argentina, Tucuman, Salta, Jujuy, Buenos Aires, and La Plata, along with talented violinists from Punta Arenas in Chile, gathered in this inspiring setting to immerse themselves in music and foster deep connections with both their instruments and fellow musicians.
The event brought together an exceptional team of teachers: Cristina Tarzta, Fernanda Morello, and Romina Granata of the renowned Trio Victoria, along with special guest viola instructor from La Plata Symphony Orchestra, Eugenia Massa. Their guidance, combined with the stunning landscape of Purmamarca, made this event more than just a musical workshop-it was an enriching, transformative experience.
The retreat offered a comprehensive program designed to develop technical skills, foster creativity, and encourage collaboration. Students participated in individual instrument lessons, chamber music rehearsals, and group sessions that allowed them to explore a range of musical styles and approaches. The picturesque setting served as a perfect backdrop for focused practice and inspired learning, helping participants feel truly connected to their music.
The highlight was a series of performances that showcased the progress made throughout the week. Teachers and students alike took part in a concert of chamber music, offering a glimpse into their collective dedication and musical journey. The final concert was a culmination of the retreat’s spirit, where every participant shared what they had learned-from solo pieces to chamber works with piano accompaniment. The grand finale was particularly special, as all the musicians, including the instructors, came together to perform Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik (Little Night Serenade), creating a powerful moment of unity and celebration.
More than just a musical event, it was a chance for participants to bond, share experiences, and grow together in a supportive and creative environment. The combination of beautiful music, talented teachers, and the inspiring landscape of Purmamarca made this retreat a unique and transformative experience for everyone involved. The retreat not only celebrated the power of music but also demonstrated the importance of creating spaces where art and nature can coexist in harmony, sparking creativity and deep connection among all participants.
In a world where time seems to move faster each day, the La Comarca Festival reminded us of the value of slowing down, reconnecting with our craft, and sharing our passion in a place of true beauty. This retreat was an experience like no other, leaving all who attended with a renewed sense of purpose, joy, and a lasting bond with their musical community. We especially thank Guillermo Assaf for his vision and collaboration with musical art and Ramiro Lozano for all the support provided.
