Looking at this from a story perspective is interesting. All the other races (more or less) get to their "Lowest Point" of the story arc, where things seem lost and doomed and they have to either re-assess the situation and stand up to their fears/worries, or simply find a new way to move forward past their internal squabbles. The Orks on the other hand don't really give a damn about regular character motivation and are forced back into the narrative only once they realize they can't just grab a ship and sail off.

Which is why they take few efforts to make their crafts safe to travel in, which is why they usually loose a lot of crewmembers to demonic incursions, posession explody heads. They consider this entertainment on the journey. But they instinctivly sense if someone is acting "unorcy" wich is why they are quite able root out chaotic influences in their midst before they become a threat. Generally their psyche is rooted to heavyly into their hive mind to be easily manipulated.

@@RustyPete12 it's probably just a mad boyz: the Olds Ones didn't had time to finish the ork race before being stomped by it (Irony is present) so some point remain a little bit...risky. Those points include weird boyz who can very rarely understand their power before blowing up and genetic knowledge. Basicly when an ork unlocked his genetic knowledge, there is a chance that too much will be available for his brain in one strike, which will make him crazy, mek boyz having special knowledge are especially vulnerable to that. On the tabletop mad boyz play random action, they can do everything from running away to charge the Ultramarine Captain, ignore all the wounds and kill the poor bastard

They really did play to the strengths of each faction's narratives. For Orks who really cares about Kyras? He's just another fight and if they were bothered, they could come back for him anytime. What do they care what he does to the Blood Ravens? Still, they managed to effectively get them into the thick of it when they couldn't get the Space Hulk operational quick enough. Even for Chaos in truth Eliphias wasn't exactly bothered about Kyras but Abaddon was. The simple answer there was Eliphias had pledged the Blood Raven souls to Abaddon and Abaddon was annoyed once he found out Kyras was attempting to sacrifice the whole chapter to Khorne. Abaddon would not take being usurped lightly in the eyes of the Chaos gods.
