The Eldar's problem is that they get so caught up in prophecies and talking in riddles that they fail to see what's directly in front of them, and miss easy, obvious solutions to problems. How many times have two Eldar forces ended up fighting and slaughtering each other when they could have taken five minutes to sit the fuck down and compare notes? Literally all the guys Kayleth and crew killed before the Exterminatus had to say was "We're blocking the human exterminatus fleet from entering the system, please don't fuck it up or they'll destroy the planet and the hidden craftworld and all the souls there with it"

Say what you want about the Eldar, but they could have easily murdered Adrastia here for 'supposedly' betraying them. Yet, instead of being the murderous assholes they are often portrayed as being, kayleth, in a rare display of decency allowed her to leave. Understandably the Eldar were upset, but Rohnan knew they were rescuing Taldeer's soulstone, he never much questioned Adrastia's methids but rather the efficiency and past methods of his own kin. In effort to break the crumbling relations between the autarch and the pathfinder whom she looks down upon constantly, the Warlock steps forward to shed light on their true purpose for this seemingly hopeless quest. Yeah, they are assholes, yeah, they often can't be trusted, I get that. But when your race is on the brink of extinction, pride often becomes all you have left after a fall, broken and damaged as it may be.... And Kayleth's pride was certainly scarred.
@Dr.ArielFinch7 жыл бұрын
To add to this, the mixed emotions of losing not just your lead, not JUST a chance at a brighter future, but also.. well, also witnessing what could be millions of your dead ancestors screaming to the jaws of eternal suffering.. it can make you want to violently strike out at just about anyone. Kayleth, like you said, could have EASILY slain Adrastia then and there. It must've taken unfathomable control to not just leap and slice, rip and tear, etc. Same with Ronahn.

@tahuking9445 Farseer Taldeer, as leader of Ulthwe, knew the location of many Necron tomb worlds. When she died on Kronus, it was assumed that knowledge died with her- however, her consciousness was preserved in her Soul Stone, which Kyras took as his own. The Eldar in Retribution are now going after Kyras to get that Soul Stone- and thus, Taldeer- back, so she can give them the information about the Tomb Worlds. The fact that they are saving the sub-sector in the process is just an extra bonus.

In a way, the Eldar are automatically MORE relatable than most human factions. Imperial Guard and Space Marines and such are zealot assholes or war-hardened bitter veterans or super-mega-ultra-wonder soldiers who are also both previous things. The Eldar are just self-important, and interested above anything else in the preservation of their own people. Selfishness is easier to relate to than any of the primary traits of the human factions.

I'm curious to know what exactly happened before this scene. I have not played the game as RTS's ain't my cup of tea, but i'm interest alot in the lore of this masterpiece of a sci-fi fiction and more so on eldar-imperium relations which i know is full of arrogance despite greater common threats. It felt like the inquisitor was held accountable by those eldar for something i do not know and i'd like to know the reason.
@dimitaribushev97799 жыл бұрын
marian florin They are holding the inquisitor accountable because the bargain they had with her failed. The sector was supposed to be subjected to Exterminatus, complete and utter destruction of all life on its planets. They agreed with her that should Kyras, the Chapter Master of the Blood Ravens, who is responsible for the sector's state be killed, she will call off the Exterminatus fleet. The main reason the Eldar wanted that was because of a Craftworld, full of Soulstones, kind of soul preservers, buried under the planet Typhon. The Extrminatus commenced earlier despite the agreement between them, striking precisely the planet they wished to save, destroying the Craftworld in the process. Geez, that was long.

There's a big ass problem with Prophecies. If you only see a single point of the future, you can not change it. It's impossible, because everything you do will lead to this future. But if you see HOW you get to that future, well then you can actually change fate. The Eldar are a dieing race, because they trust to much in prophecies and Visions, of single points in time, they work tirelessly to prevent it, but always find what they fear at the End. Look at this Cutscene. They followed the Prophecy to the letter, and only found doom. Only after the most critical piece of information was revealed, and after the Inquisitor mocked them, calling them a doomed Race, the Prophecy became as clear as the cloudless sky. And only then could they, partly, change fate.

Well i just learned some respect for the Eldar, i could never see past their mean claims to being superior, but everyone does that.

The Eldar certainly are selfish, but in Warhammer 40K that kind of is a positive trait. The alternative to not caring about others is almost always actively wanting to kill them.

Kayleth coping after making a mistake!
@kaylethstarbane78003 жыл бұрын
I would think as an Autarch, she has to be perfect in her decision making, her prowess, and be the epitome of Aeldari martial prowess, so even a single mistake would not be taken lightly and one such as her would beat herself up for not "being better"
