Adrastia, the Inquisitor of the IMPERIUM OF MAN, cares a lot more about concrete proof before assuming people guilty than most people these days :P
@bossshun98 жыл бұрын
+Atticus Leeds That is true. She did want proof but Sgt. Merrick wasn't a fool either. He knew what was up without any real hints thrown his way.
@toddkes58904 жыл бұрын
She would be accusing a Space Marine Chapter Master of heresy, and calling off an Exterminatus fleet. So she has to go against the opinion of every other Chapter Master out there, plus the authority of another Inquisitor. Because of these two counterweights she needs absolute proof. Now if someone else manages to kill the Chapter Master in the meantime, that would make the job much easier (a dead Chapter Master cannot defend himself)

She needs a hard proof to stop the exterminatus tho

especially since Merrick's been alive for a decade. an average lifespan of a guardsmen like 15min on the battlefield. anyone who passes that becomes vetern

More than a decade. He was a veteran even before the Tyranid invasion was stopped. The man's a legend among guardsmen at this point.

After this, I like to think Castor has even a small amount of compassion for his troops.

Castor belives that there are two parts of his job the first is to send men to their deaths, the second is to make their deaths worth it

@@manolgeorgiev9664 He's like a WW1 general, but with some compassion. He wants to win, he has no qualms about sending IG to their deaths, but he isn't a General Haig. He loves the Imperium as his home but he isn't one to allow it to be blighted by incompetence or sullied by outside forces. That's why when Merrick calls him out as incompetent he sets the record straight.

I love how Adrastia doesn't even deny that Merrick is potentially assuming she is doing this for herself. She rules it off as "What difference does it make?" In truth, it makes almost no difference. Whether or not it is for her own personal gain, she will be given a pretty cushy promotion when Kyras is defeated regardless, for her contributions in assisting with tracking down a Heretical chapter master and saving the recruiting worlds of Aurelia from being needlessly put to torch.

@StagBot I bet the reason why he has not been blammed is because Commissar Lord Bernn is both mute and deaf.

Bernn: A word if I may... Castor, Adrastia, Merrick: *NO!*
@THEGRUMPTRUCK3 жыл бұрын
Largely because Castor doesn't entirely follow the status quo. Most lord generals couldn't give two shits about fighting, just sending countless men until the problem is resolved. When Merrick punches Castor on the Judgement of Carrion Castor explains "I am not afraid to spend them, but I never waste men." He explained in that one sentence that he doesn't send Guardsmen to their deaths needlessly like pawns, but rather uses his basic infantry in a more strategic manner. When he tells Merrick that, Merrick calms down because he realizes Castor doesn't send more troops than is absolutely necessary. Plus, as it was made known, Castor hates wasting troops needlessly. He knows and especially values Merrick's experience, hence why "Killing you for insubordination would be very..... wasteful." A good craftsman takes care of his tools.

I like the cold logical victory of the imperium here. Chaos worshipers come for favor orks for waaagh and elder for dumb prophecy stuff But to the imperium it’s all a great diversion while they pursue actually significant gains and get experienced soldiers as a result

People do not understand why Inquisitor needs proof despite telling her herself. She wants to do high profile arrest in order to advance her career. You can't do such high profile arrest properly without evidence and proof. If she would just scream heretic, it would raise eyebrose among her fellow ordos and it would result in civil war where Blood Ravens and ones loyal to them would be forced to fight Imperium. Nothing good in here. On the other hand if she manages to arrest Kyras without causing civil war between Blood Ravens and Imperium, she preserves Space Marines chapter, gets very high profile heretic, roots out corruption among Astartes. That is a massive thing for an Inquisitor to do and she would skyrocket in her career by several positions just for this work alone.
@THEGRUMPTRUCK3 жыл бұрын
Exactly. That's why I like Adrastia as a character. She understands there needs to be a particular way to do things to avoid unnecessary conflict as she does recognize the usefulness of Angelos and the blood raven loyalists. At the same time she doesn't deny that this will also benefit her career. She isn't going to lie to them, her interests are to get it done properly, but also that she will gain serious accolades among her peers for doing so.

Here in the IG campaign, Adrastia is pursuing Kyras formally, as opposed to ordering a hit using Orks/Eldar. Oh, she knows that Kyras is a heretic - but if the evidence is not sufficient and Kyras gets away clean, it's her ass that's getting roasted.

@BlackTemplar587 Not all Inquisitors. Although the organization as a whole is known for being merciless and uncaring. Not all Inquisitors are like that. Inquisitors at the end of the day are still 100% Human and as such as can have the same range of personalities as me and you can have. There are all kinds of personalities Inquisitors can have. Some Inquisitors are very analytical, some are gung ho, some are very distant and apathetic, and some are compassionate within reason and practical.
