Just picked one of these up from my mom so this was great to view. Thanks

I've just dug this out of storage and I'm keen to know more about what it can do in 2024!

Hi, thank you for this review, do you think it is good for portrait or makeup video?

Hey @freeshrimp Have you had any trouble with menus getting all crazy and selecting randomly? I just gone one of these for dirty cheap to use as outdoor camera and overall, despite some light dust, the dial button acts as if it's being used all time, making it almost impossible to shoot due to constant and random change of modes. Firmware is updated and there's no other issues. I just got the camera because it was cheap and this video helped me to decide for this one over other models using AA batteries.

Hey! I haven't had that happen on my Fuji, but it did on an old Olympus I had. Usually dust under the dial, or faulty connection inside somewhere. I'd suggest trying a bit of compressed air first and seeing if that helps at all!

@@freeshrimp Thank you for answering! It's a relief to know that it might be reversible. The camera is really nice for its price nowadays, just a bit on the heavy size, but it's kinda impossible to use it until I get that problem solved. Dial works okay, but it keeps switching on screen. I'll try compressed air as you said. It's difficult to someone who has expertise in disassembling/cleaning super zoom cameras here in Brasil. No one wants to do. By the way, what you did to solve the issue in your Olympus?
@freeshrimp4 ай бұрын
@@IgorGoularthOfficial It is! I got really lucky with mine being basically like new condition for $10. I agree with the weight though its still lighter than bringing full frame size lenses lol. I managed to 1/2 fix the olympus to a point where it only jumped if I was actually spinning the dial but worked otherwise, ended up selling to fund my current camera though.

@@freeshrimp Mine was more or less the same price, but a way less care. I wish I can find someone who can give its lens a good cleaning, but it's difficult to find people that does the job and I have zero confidence in doing myself. Yeah lol A full frame set weights a ton, indeed. Need to find why my camera isn't accepting certain SD cards. It works with an old 2GB SD card, but rejects my 128GB microSD with adapter.
@freeshrimp4 ай бұрын
Mine also has some dust in the lens, but it's not noticeable in photos so I'll probably leave it. In my experience I find most cameras are usually more complicated to repair than other electronics, but is doable. Good luck on getting yours fixed!

I am planning on getting this camera. Can I connect it to the computer to use as a webcam?
@freeshrimpАй бұрын
Unfortunately no, Fuji didn't put that feature in their cameras from that time.

What's the maximum recording time in Full HD per batteries???
@freeshrimp29 күн бұрын
There is a 29 minute recording limit, but time per batteries will differ. For example, my cheap batteries can't record longer than 2 minutes, I'm not sure how long my rechargeables can record but they are much better.

Hi! Fijifilm Finepix HS30EXR or Fijifilm Finepix S8200
@freeshrimp2 ай бұрын
Both are very similar, but I think the S8200 is just slightly better in most aspects.

Help me to decide. I want to start macro photography as a hobby. Fujifilm FinePix S8200 vs Smartphone with Macro lens attachment?
@freeshrimp7 ай бұрын
While the Fuji can focus super close, a phone with lens will get you more magnification in my experience. Most phones have macro modes built in that are just as good, the Fuji is better for other genres of photography in my opinion. Hope this helps!
@cesurkarakus2097 ай бұрын
@@freeshrimp With my phone's built-in macro mode I have to get within 3cm to focus on a subject. So this is not good when I wan to take pics of skittish insects. Can I use Fuji's 40x zoom to take macro photos of subjects from 30-40cm?
@freeshrimp7 ай бұрын
Fuji would be much better than a phone in that case. I did some quick measurements in macro mode to try and help, super macro mode is limited to 1x zoom and too close for insects. Closest I could focus at 40x zoom was 230cm away capturing 10cm across the frame. Around 5x zoom would give a decent working distance for most insects I think.

@@freeshrimp Thank you I'll give it a try. Can I use Screw-on filters on this camera? Is there a screwing part at the end of the lens? Maybe I can put a +10 close-up filter and maintain focusing while zooming more than 5x.
@freeshrimp7 ай бұрын
Unfortunately no, I thought that too, but there's no filter threads. I'm sure it'd work though if you used a bit of tape or something to keep it in place

I know this video is old, but I'd appreciate it if anyone could help me out here. How do you change the recipe on this camera? Please bear with me. This is my first camera
@freeshrimp29 күн бұрын
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by recipe? I'm not sure if this helps, but you use the dial on top to switch modes, and the dial on the back will change exposure settings depending on which mode you're in.
@BrEaDisgood-r5y29 күн бұрын
@freeshrimp Like a film recipe? I'm not fully sure it seems like a filter built in to the camera that you can customize
@freeshrimp29 күн бұрын
Oh ok I think I understand, that's common on a lot of Fuji cameras but missing here. First page of the menu has "finepix color" which are the film looks you can change. "Chrome" is the only option in this camera other than standard or black and white, and there's no way to customize unfortunately.
