In today's retro game hunt, we're vising 4 different book-offs in one trip. I spent a lot of money today (whoops). Anyways, I hope you enjoy the video.

Love this video!!! Don’t worry about spending money for the viewers, would still love to watch store tours with discussion of prices even if you can’t buy anything!! 🎉

Great video, Frankie! Glad to still see a lot of great deals at Book Off. N64 games are still just as low in price as a few years ago.

I was so surprised the first time I visited a retro store. You can't get complete N64 games for 10$ in Canada. I thought the seller had no idea what they were doing until I informed myself of price charts in Japan haha

Been watching some of your videos this evening, as it’s a dream of mine to go retro game shopping in Japan one day. Tip for when you’re recording yourself and facing the camera, look at the lens, not the screen. It’ll help draw viewers in.

Ah thank you, I've always been curious. Japan is so lucky for having so many DBZ games since Famicom. And that's awesome. Where are you staying? Tokyo?
@vejit
@vejit Жыл бұрын
@@frankieinjapan No problem, I myself found out about it just a couple of months ago to be honest, just because someone asked me on instagram about the meaning of those numbers, since I was always to lazy to look it up just for myself 😅 Yeah, too bad many DBZ games never got translated into english, although japanese language never stopped me from playing these games back in the 90 🤷‍♂😉 I've seen you are still missing out on DBZ Hyper Dimension. That's one amazing game, got it myself couple years ago as it was a "must have" for my collection. We're gonna be staying 4 days at Tokyo, then moving to Osaka for 6 days to come back to Tokyo for another 4. We're planning to visit Odaiba, Yokohama, Akihabara, Asakusa, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, Fukuoka, Hiroshima and probably couple other places I can't recall right now. This will be my third visit and I hope to get my hands on some of the titles I want in my collection.
@frankieinjapan
@frankieinjapan Жыл бұрын
@@vejit Same! I downloaded hyper dimension as a ROM years ago. Asides from that, I didn't realize how many exclusives they had until I moved here. Otherwise oh wow that is awesome! You must be happy the gates are finally opened again. It was incredibly difficult to come in even with a spousal visa back then.

The treeko line is my favorite grass starter too. And because every 7 year old wanted the red dragon or blue turtle monster. A green frog with flowers was mostly unappealing to us kids haha. Once I grew up though, I heavily appreciated venusaur.

When buying games in japan - are their english version / multi language games?
@frankieinjapan
@frankieinjapan Жыл бұрын
It's extremely tough to find old English games, but if you really look, you can find a few. I've probably only come across about 10 English games. But thankfully most modern games have an English option. On the back, it'll say 英語 which indicates English option is included.

Are you able to change the dialogue language to English in Japanese games?
@frankieinjapan
@frankieinjapan Жыл бұрын
In modern games, mostly all of them do. But unfortunately it's very rare in the old games. For example, legacy of Goku 2 in NA has language options (even Japanese), but the Japanese version is Japanese only. It sucks haha

"if you ever come to Japan make sure to do your research, know what you are doing" 3 seconde later "oh the bank is closed?" Frankiiiiieeee.....😅 how many kids have eaten those pokemons' erasers? 🤔 i don't want to stress anybody but i think you forgot "mom" at the parking lot since she wasn't in the car when you picked "Abby" your voice over voice is the same as your "live" voice, that's cool not hands shaming but some hands close up and someone got her nails done that day 🧐

I know, I just assumed the bank was gonna be open. My bad 🤣 and haha Mom worked at the station that day, so she walked to work from there after picking up Abbey (they're connected underground from the mall). And yeaup, Abbey got her nails done. Lucky because she's not allowed to work in the kitchen because of them, and since her mom is CEO, she can say "nah put me somewhere else, I ain't removing the nails" lmao 🤣
