Name the best game from the 2000s you'd like to play today

A good message to impart is to "take a chance on the experience not being perfect". Part of the criticisms of many popular modern games is what makes them successful, they're safe. In the 'retro' days, consumers had fewer points of information to see if a game was good, I grew up buying Playstation and Gameboy games with only their box art and a recommendation as my guide - many were great but some were stinkers. The nostalgia lens you've mentioned in this video is very real, looking back it's easy to cherry-pick the best across 20 years and claim that was the industry-standard. Taking the chance on a weird-looking game might just revive that excitement, it's definitely where the indie-space shines but higher budget games do fall into the category; such as Dark Souls, Quantum Break, and Death Stranding. These three examples are weeeeeird games when you look back on them at their time of release and they made an effort to push the medium. The winners are out there in both the Indie and double/triple-A space, we just have more games to consider as part of the conversation.

Gameplay > Graphics But people are stupid. They'll throw money at you if it looks good, because the assumption is it must be good. CIG have leveraged this for many years. They just passed 800 million.

@@DevotedStudios 'Should'. I'll believe it when I see it. (just like with CIG/Star Citizen) Until then, it's piracy for the win. (gotta protecc from all that corporate/industry greed) Still waiting on a Jedi Survivor crack/repack. That's the thing though. I can wait. They remove denuvo and it's good, I'll grab it via Steam sale, otherwise, it's Pirate or GTFO, because if it doesn't have decent quality user reviews, to prove it's worth the asking price, I don't touch it (without a crack). Don't have these problems with old/classics. You bought them in the day, and are still great to play, to this very day. 60 quid for unfinished garbage cashgrab because they focused all their funds on 'graphics' so they could bait the market with visuals, ain't it. Old is gold. I got this one game, dogs of war by silicon dreams, was great. Haven't been able to play it for like a decade and a half/two decades though because it';s really iffy about software and hardware, but was a sick little game which merged third person with overhead RTS. Man I'd pay big bucks for someone to get that working for me. That's the downside. Dead studio. Incompatible. But I personally would lay down three figures, to be able to play it again.
