We continue with this Retro Series looking back at games from the 8 bit era mostly on the ZX Spectrum 48k and sometimes 128k.
Back to Football Manager Revisited (128k only) which we looked at way back in Episode 11 here we visit the game with the new 2024-25 Update.

THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!!! As someone who had the original on the Spectrum and then on the C64 (which wasn't a turbo load so took about 30 minutes to load) THIS is what the sequels should have down. What fantastic work by the guy (sorry i'm writing this comment a couple of weeks later as i like to watch YT in bed and you can't comment using the TV's YT app). I wonder how many old fans even know about this?? You've got Kevin Toms belligerently thrashing away on an IOS game EXACTLY like the origional only worse looking (WHY!>) when THIS is the direction he should have gone in. BTW if you can remember what you said in this "A.Martin" was Alvin Martin in real life and G Shaw was Gary Shaw a handsome blonde superb striker for Aston Villa (played 165, scored 59) who sadly died last September at only 63. And just like you wear have the goalies gone!? Even though you appear to have one out on pitch.

Thanks for the comments and its def a game anyone who played the classic FM should try. Remember this was for 128k only Spectrums so you get plenty of extra functions. Glad you enjoyed it.

Just to add thankyou so much for highlighting this as I'm sure I'd never have known about it otherwise. BTW the white noise of the crowd sounds very much like the same sound in the c64 version.

@@doughnutdoney997 I watch about 90% of them. Might not comment but i'm always listening/watching. Oxford are doing a bit better at the moment now. I think you might well enjoy is maybe not the word but be interested in playing "Giant Killers" on the Dreamcast. Now before you roll your eyes about 3d graphics etc, it has none at all just some very anonymous football pics in the background of the menus. Gameplay is all just text with comments about the play making up the "match highlights". It feels like a homebrew but no it was a full commercial release.
