Great episode Mod Betty! And what a great diner! I'm on your email list but never watched the videos because of time. I live in Delaware County, PA so many of your sites are not too far away. My sister lives in Wildwood Crest, retired there because of Childhood memories and was involved with Doo Wop preservation. Love, love, love what your do!

That is great that your sis was involved in the Doo Wop preservation. I'm just trying to do my part to bring awareness of these vanishing gems of American History - if we don't appreciate them now, they'll never survive for future generations!

Agree completely about appreciating the past. Funny thing is that I've felt like that since I was a child. I always loved my older relatives' Christmas decorations or wanted to stop and eat in an out-of-the way joint with a sign that said 'Eats'. I always worked in Philly and even in the early '90s there were still stores that sold notions (oh, the buttons!), old wholesalers that sold things like 5 combs on a cardboard display and little plastic US Presidents (bought & still have them), and a big party wholesaler where they sold absolutely everything. You'd pick out the color of crepe paper you wanted and the old sales ladies would go into the storeroom to return with this HUGE roll of purple or lime green crepe paper. I used to love to explore the back streets on my lunch hour and oh how I wish I had taken photos of these places that are long gone now! I sent a link of your Wildwood video to my sister and she LOVED it. Going to send it to my nieces, cousins friends too Keep up the great work, you're a treasure, even greater than the treasures you find!

Mod Betty! You put a HUGE smile on my face. Makes me want to go to DE!! This will interest you, I have a green rotary phone from the 1970s, I use it faithfully! It has a sticker on it, the past address being Selbyville! Two Retro Road Trip reasons! Thank you Mod Betty!!

As always, loved the video... My dad had the same stools and menu boards in his lunch room. How was the chicken?

Chicken was delish, and what a heaping helping! Doyle's is famous for theirs, as well as being a place where the DelMarVa Poultry Growers used to congregate. Love that connection :-)
