The best thing about these older fifas is that the higher rated beasts like andis lacazette etc... actually felt another level. Its because there is only like 10 to 20 players who were actually that caliber so you felt so powerful with these players. Nowadays all players basically just have 5*5* with max shooting pace and dribbling so they all are the same player with a different skin.

The Di Maria thing wasn't internationals, as far as I remember the 85 was his base, then he got an 86 january upgrade. EA did some position change cards maybe for fut birthday but they were the same as the base card with a different position, hence why di maria has 2 winger cards. See LW and ST Alexis Sanchez and RW/ST Bale for other examples

In these older FIFA's they had January upgrades and transfer cards. The investing and money made in Jan with upgrades was amazing. If a player's base got a decent upgrade the specials would go up as well
