While unemployed in the early eighties, I remember seeing this show on Itv in the early afternoon and falling on love with the show and with Annette Andre. I did find employment about 12 episodes In and with my 1st paycheck rented a top loading VCR just so I could get my mum to tape it. Took missing 4 eps before she got the hang of the recording 😂.

Classic Edwin Astley who scored The Saint, Gideon's Way, The Baron and Department S as well. Brilliant composer. CDs have been issued on some of them including R&H on Amazon.

I’ve very happy memories of Wednesday afternoons, coming home from school to watch that day’s R&H episode which my mum and my Nan had taped, and we all sat down to watch it together. Must be forty years ago.

Cheers for the interesting trip down memory lane, I remember loving watching Randall and Hopkirk as a child of the seventies. Sad that Hopkirk really did recently become deceased (RIP Kenneth Cope). Thanks for the video, and I hope that your channel reaches 1000 subscribers soon! 👍

I remember this show, here in the states, as "My Partner the Ghost". We got a kick out of it. It was reminiscent of a show we used to watch a few years earlier - "The Smothers Brothers show", where one Smothers brother was lost at sea and he came back as an angle trying to earn his wings by helping the other Smothers brother. This show was in B&W and strictly a comedy show, but had a similar premise to My Partner the Ghost. All this and the Avengers too! I was a big fan of The Champions as well. I was a big fan of all the British shows that made it here across the pond. Maybe the fact that me Mum was from England had something to do with that. 😊

It feels quite timeless even though it's a show from the 60s.

Like some others I first encountered this in the early 70s when it was shown in the afternoons and being off school was a treat. Although it wasn't until the blu-ray release that we got to see the original broadcast title sequence with the 'only you can see me jeff, only you' voice over. Made back to back with Department S - which shared cast, sets, props and Jeff's car - although with a painted black top.

I still really enjoy watching all the re run's of Randall and Hopkirk. I was 12 when it originally aired and it was one of my favourite programmes back in the day along with the original Avengers. I love looking back and seeing all those actors who were everyday face back then.. Very iconic and so very nostalgic.

There were 2 title sequences in the UK, from the eighties onwards the series ran with the Chambers & Partners titles we still see today. The earlier titles were more basic which I think were more graveyard based with a voiceover from Marty. Not quite sure why they did this.

Both actors worked with Oliver Reed. Mike Pratt played a Beatnik in "The Party's Over" 1965 and Kenneth Cope played a Rocker in "We are the Damned" aka "The Damned" 1963, based on a John Wyndam story. Both characters are subordinate to Reed's character in their films with Reed. I highly recommend both films. The Damned is a great and unusual example of 60s British Science Fiction. It's also where the Punk group, The Damned, got their name. Seeing the poster in Malcom Maclaren's shop on Kings Road. They also covered the song "Black Leather" from that movie. The Party's Over is probably the best ever Beatnik film. Admittedly, the competition of that genre is not great but Reed puts in a great performance as the charismatic but deranged leader of his Beatnik gang. Not to be confused with "Beat Girl" 1960, which also featured Reed in a smaller role but also as a Beatnik. Beat Girl does feature a great John Barry score, reworked as "Rock Lobster" by the B52s.

I have The Damned - is it We Are The Damned? - on DVD and saw it a few years ago. Yes, very unusual, filmed around the Weymouth I seem to recall?
@captainape68077 күн бұрын
@@CardiffOneOne Yes, that's the one. Reed is a sort of a dandy, who is in charge of a biker gang and has dodgy desires towards his sister. Then they all get mixed up with radioactive children. Great downer ending.
